Job Description
Cobalt Integration is a multidisciplinary engineering firm focusing on the design, integration, and construction management of capital asset projects. We provide full-service project management from ideation, budgeting and capital approval, through construction and startup. We pride ourselves not just on completing quality projects, but on developing partnerships with our clients and vendors. Cobalt Integration is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer. While this position will be based in our Downers Grove, IL office, our projects will take you throughout the United States. Travel is required and can be expected to be 20-30%. The Electrical Project Engineer shall: • Prepare design deliverables including but not limited to single line diagrams, schematic diagrams, conduit and cable schedules, panel board schedules, interconnection wiring drawings, cable tray and conduit plans, grounding plans, process and instrumentation diagrams, network architecture drawings and design detail drawings. • Prepare electrical specifications. • Be knowledgeable of the National Electrical Code, NFPA Standards and local codes • Prepare demand load, voltage drop, short-circuit, device coordination and arc flash studies. Perform wire sizing, conduit fill and cable tray sizing calculations. • Select and size all electrical equipment and materials including but not limited to low and medium voltage switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, motors, drives, cable, conduit and all that is required for a complete and functioning system. • Design control panels and operator stations incorporating VFDs, PLCs, transformers, relays, push buttons, pilot lights, etc. Develop Bills of Material for the control panels and operator stations. • Prepare project scope documents and design criteria. • Develop RFP drawings and as-built drawings. • Develop bid packages. • Ensure that all designs meet or exceed design and specification criteria. • Work with construction managers, project managers, vendors, and OEMs to prevent or rectify issues that occur in the field. • Travel will be required for site surveys, construction, and startup support. Requirements: • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. • 5 years of relevant design experience. • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills are a must. • EIT/PE licensing is preferred. If not already a licensed PE in the state of Illinois, it is expected that candidate will pursue licensing. • Experience in AutoCAD • Ability to travel frequently; up to 20-30% travel.
