Project Engineer Electrical Construction Location: Smyrna, GA 30082 Schedule: Monday Friday (Core hours 9:00 AM 4:00 PM; flexible start between 7:00 9:00 AM) Compensation: $38.00 $41.00/hr (TTD) | $80,000 $85,000+ Direct Hire (DOE) Employment Type: Direct Hire or Temp-to-Direct (Preferred)OverviewAn established electrical contractor with over 80 years of industry leadership is seeking a Project Engineer to support large-scale commercial and industrial electrical construction projects. With project values ranging from $100M to $200M and experience supporting major clients such as Coca-Cola, Facebook, Google, and Microsoft, this organization is deeply embedded in high-profile, complex builds including data centers and mission-critical facilities.This role is ideal for a technically strong electrical professional who thrives in a fast-paced construction environment and is passionate about maximizing field productivity, preventing rework, and delivering clear, actionable documentation to installation teams.Key Responsibilities
- Proactively review project plans and specifications to identify missing, unclear, or conflicting information and coordinate timely resolution
- Produce detailed shop drawings, installation details, and marked-up plans to support efficient field execution
- Review and coordinate submittals and RFIs across trades, identifying impacts to electrical scope
- Ensure foremen and field supervisors receive accurate, up-to-date drawings and coordination documents well ahead of installation
- Monitor updates from mechanical, structural, and architectural trades to protect electrical sequencing and scope
- Support project managers and field leadership with forward-looking planning to reduce risk and eliminate rework
- Maintain strong communication between field operations and project management teams
- Promote continuous improvement in installation quality, safety, and productivity
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Construction Management
- 5+ years of electrical construction or project engineering experience within a contracting environment
- Candidates with 2+ years of highly relevant, hands-on experience may be considered as junior options
- Strong understanding of commercial and industrial electrical systems
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents at a high level
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Procore, and similar document management platforms
- Excellent communication, coordination, and organizational skills
- Strong electrical engineering foundation combined with hands-on field exposure
- Experience supporting large-scale commercial or data center projects
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate installation challenges before they impact operations
- Experience working on projects exceeding $50M+ in value
- Interest in long-term growth within electrical construction leadership
