Our team of experienced recruiters work together to match the best candidates with the right job opportunities.Today we are now hiring an Electrical Project Engineer – High Voltage Substations (Kansas City, KS).A leading engineering firm is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to support and lead high-voltage substation projects for utility and EPC clients.LocationOverland Park, KS (Kansas City area)Must be local or willing to relocateFull-time in office for first 90 days; hybrid schedule (3 days/week in office) and 9/80 schedule may be available afterwardCompensation$130,000–$160,000 base salary Final offer depends on experience and PE licensureWhat You’ll DoServe as a technical specialist and/or project lead on HV substation projects (69kV–765kV)Support detailed engineering and EPC substation workDevelop Protection & Controls deliverables:Protective relays, panel layouts, one-line/three-line diagramsAC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, relay panel designDevelop Physical Design deliverables:Yard layouts, grounding, lightning protectionControl buildings and auxiliary AC/DC systemsPerform and/or oversee QA/QC reviews of design packagesPrepare equipment specifications and Bills of Materials (BOMs)Coordinate with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teamsManage design budgets and schedulesMentor junior engineers and support team developmentParticipate in proposals, client presentations, and business development effortsOccasional travel for design reviews, site visits, and field verificationKey ResponsibilitiesApply and guide use of engineering standards, codes, and internal design guidelinesIndependently execute advanced engineering analysis and calculationsLead production teams and coordinate multi-discipline activitiesAct as responsible charge on assigned projectsSupport client relationship management and understand client driversFoster knowledge sharing, mentoring, and technical leadershipAssist with performance management, resource planning, and team developmentHandle limited administrative responsibilities (timesheets, expenses, policy compliance)Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)Minimum 5 years of substation design experience (69kV+)Experience in Protection & Controls and/or Physical Substation DesignAbility to work onsite in Overland Park, KS (at least initially)Ability to pass standard pre-employment screening requirementsPreferred QualificationsProfessional Engineer (PE) license (strongly preferred)Project lead or technical specialist experience on utility substation projectsQA/QC review experienceStrong client-facing and coordination skillsProficiency with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office
