Summary
The Electrical Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining electrical equipment and components related to construction and maintenance projects and activities relating to water, wastewater and building facilities in accordance with federal, state and local policies and procedures. Work duties assigned but not limited to the following:Examples of Work
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.Perform predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance on all electrical equipment within the scope of the facilities department to include telemetry, industrial motor controls (both AC and DC), and solid-state devices.Periodically calibrate process meters to ensure accuracy traceable to the National Bureau of Standards and what is required by FDEP. Provide documentation to the accuracy of each process meter. Ensure that all preventive maintenance tasks are accomplished as scheduled and documented in the asset management program.Troubleshoot electrical problems and utilize wiring schematics.Service low voltage electrical equipment (voltages 5-50vdc; 12-480VAC). Perform installation and start-up of new and rebuilt equipment.Ensure accountability of all equipment and materials used in the repair or maintenance of electrical equipment and facilities.Supervisory Responsibility
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) from the American Council on Education or Florida Department of Education; a valid Journeyman Electrician license (or higher) or a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the field of industrial electrical construction and maintenance. Knowledge of computer skills, including Word, Outlook, and Excel is required. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must be insurable through the company's insurance carrier.Preference may be given to individuals that also have direct experience with SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) operations. This includes the ability to monitor system performance, interpret digital telemetry, and troubleshoot communication failures between field devices and the master station. Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and the ability to read and interpret ladder logic and technical schematics to resolve automated process issues.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
