Elementary & Middle School Tutor (K–8) – Part-Time

Tutor Doctor provides personalized, one-on-one tutoring to help students build confidence and succeed academically. We match tutors with students based on their needs and learning styles, creating a customized and supportive experience for every family. Tutor Doctor is seeking a patient, engaging K–8 Tutor to work one-on-one with students in the Carlsbad and Oceanside area. This is a flexible, part-time role ideal for someone who enjoys working with younger students and helping them build strong academic foundations in a supportive environment.

We are especially interested in candidates with experience in elementary and middle school math and reading, and certified teachers and/or tutors are highly encouraged to apply.

What You’ll Do

• Provide one-on-one tutoring in math and/or reading and other subjects for K–8 students

• Support foundational skills, homework completion, and study habits

• Adapt lessons to each student’s learning style and pace

• Build confidence and create a positive, encouraging learning environment

• Communicate progress and key updates after each session via session reports

What We’re Looking For

• Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students preferred 

• Patient, positive, and engaging teaching style

• Strong communication skills with both students and parents

• Organized and reliable, especially with session reporting

• Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule

• Teaching credential (preferred, but not required)

• Bachelor’s degree or currently pursuing one (preferred)

• Reliable transportation required

• Clear background check

Pay: $22–$27/hour Schedule: 2–10 hours per week (primarily after school and weekends)Location: In-home tutoring in Carlsbad and Oceanside
