The RMP Promise

Rocky Mountain Prep is a movement of educators, families, scholars, and advocates committed to changing public education in Colorado by democratizing college access for historically marginalized students and families. We operate twelve college-preparatory schools serving students from early childhood through twelfth grade, and we are fundamentally a world-class learning organization that invests deeply in every educator who joins us. Teachers engage in ongoing coaching and professional development, supported by clear expectations, transparent feedback, and opportunities to strengthen their craft and advance along individualized career pathways grounded in our PEAK values. Rooted in a culture of rigor and love, RMP promises to coach, develop, and champion every team member so they can do their best work and grow as professionals, people, and leaders.

Our Approach to Social Work

At Rocky Mountain Prep, social work is grounded in a deep belief that every child deserves access to a joyful, rigorous, and equitable education. Our Social Workers operate within a multi-tiered system of support, advancing students’ social-emotional, behavioral, and mental health through preventative, responsive, and individualized care, while using strengths-based, culturally responsive, and anti-racist practices to ensure all students, especially those historically marginalized, experience dignity, belonging, and opportunity. Social Workers serve as critical thinkers and compassionate advocates, partnering with families, educators, and community providers to remove barriers to learning and well-being, and leveraging data, professional expertise, and relational trust to design and implement interventions that support both individual students and the broader school community. Grounded in a culture of rigor and love, our Social Workers balance high expectations with deep empathy, respond effectively to crisis, uphold all legal and ethical responsibilities, and continuously reflect, grow, and collaborate to ensure every scholar can thrive academically and personally.

Social Workers at Rocky Mountain Prep will...

  • Design and implement Tier 1, 2, and 3 social-emotional and behavioral supports that promote student well-being, belonging, and academic access
  • Conduct legally compliant, culturally responsive assessments and contribute to IEPs and 504 plans, ensuring services meet individual student needs
  • Provide direct and indirect services, including individual and small group interventions focused on skill-building (e.g., self-regulation, executive functioning, and healthy decision-making)
  • Partner closely with families, honoring their expertise and building strong, trust-based relationships to support student success
  • Collaborate with educators and staff to problem-solve, coach best practices, and create inclusive, supportive learning environments
  • Lead or support crisis response, including risk assessments, safety planning, and coordination with internal teams and external providers
  • Advocate for students by navigating systems, removing barriers to access, and ensuring compliance with special education and student services regulations
  • Use data and progress monitoring to evaluate impact, adjust interventions, and drive continuous improvement
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning, reflection, and collaboration to strengthen practice and advance equity-centered outcomes

All Members of the Mental Health Team at Rocky Mountain Prep will:

Advance the social-emotional, behavioral, and mental wellness of students through strengths-based, culturally responsive, and equity-driven practices grounded in a multi-tiered system of support. They proactively design and implement Tier 1, 2, and 3 interventions that promote safety, belonging, and academic access, while responding effectively to crisis and high-impact student needs.

These team members partner closely with families, educators, and community providers to remove barriers to learning, uphold student rights, and ensure compliance with all applicable special education and student services regulations. They use data to inform decisions, coach adults toward best practices, and serve as trusted advocates so that every scholar experiences dignity, connection, and the opportunity to thrive.
