Job Description
Our client, a IT Services and Consulting company, is looking for a Embedded C Software Engineer – Vehicle Controls Tools (Linux & Automotive) for their Dearborn Heights, MI location.Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, code, and test planned changes to software tools along-side with the Vehicle Controls Tools Technical Specialist
- Follow section change control process to bring approved changes to resolution
- Provide user support across the globe via phone, email, Webex, Instant Messaging, and 1/1 user interactions
- Provide user account creation, maintenance, and access controls
- Participate in the development and delivery of training material to global Ford community
- Document changes in the appropriate user manuals and other media
- Participate in User Forum meetings.
- Source 10+ years Embedded C/Linux Software Engineers with automotive controls experience and strong expertise in C programming, Linux system programming, Motif GUI development, and SQL/PostgreSQL. Prior OEM/Tier-1 experience in vehicle controls or calibration tools is highly preferred.
- Reject candidates lacking hands-on Embedded C/Linux development or automotive domain experience.
- 10+ years of software development experience
- Strong background in Embedded C programming
- Experience supporting automotive control systems and engineering tools
- In this role you will be assisting with the design, implementation, testing, documentation, and support of software changes to Client in-house developed control systems tools in automotive software Calibration Data management under the direction of the Vehicle Controls Tools Technical Specialist.
- Strong proficiency in C programming language with in-depth hands-on experience preferably in support of an embedded control systems environment
- Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms.

- Experience in developing applications in Unix/Linux environments.

- Hands-on experience in code debugging and troubleshooting using GDB.
- Operating system calls, file input/output
- GUI development using Motif

- Knowledge of H32 and A2L file formats.
- Familiarity with Exceed TurboX.
- Experience in control system software development and calibration.
- Experience with interfacing to Postgres database and Postgres table creation.
- Working experience of Code Configuration Management, Jira Issue Management, Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
