System Medical Director Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) Emergency Medicine West Virginia & Kentucky

Core Clinical Partners is seeking an experienced and visionary System Medical Director to lead Emergency Medicine services across Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH), a 14-hospital, non-profit system serving rural communities throughout West Virginia and Kentucky. With oversight of more than 100 EM physicians and 40 advanced practice providers, this is a rare and rewarding opportunity to drive strategic and clinical impact at a scale, while maintaining hands-on clinical practice.

This hybrid leadership and clinical role is ideal for a physician passionate about elevating care quality, building strong clinical teams, and advancing operational performance across multiple sites. The role reports directly to Dr. Rachel Thompson, Chief Medical Officer, and partners with a dedicated Director of Operations and Regional Practice Manager to ensure success.

Leadership & Strategy Serve as clinical dyad partner to the ARH Director of Operations Mentor and oversee a network of physicians and APPs across all emergency departments Promote a culture of collaboration, engagement, and clinical excellence Standardize and disseminate best practices across sites

Operational Oversight • Regularly visit hospitals across the 14-facility system • Establish a designated home base ED for consistency in clinical practice • Ensure operational consistency and workflow optimization • Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, and development of site-level clinical leaders

Quality & Performance • Drive quality improvement and data-informed decision-making • Align site-level metrics with system priorities in collaboration with hospital leadership • Champion Core s quality and safety initiatives system-wide

Stakeholder Engagement • Represent Core and the EM team with ARH hospital CEOs and system leaders • Actively participate in regional strategy and planning discussions • Serve as a trusted advisor to both internal teams and external clinical stakeholders
