Duties and Key Responsibilities
- Provides management support and oversight to the day to day operations of Emergency Services and Urgent Care to ensure quality of care provided.
- Supports ED Medical Director and EMS Coordinator to oversight EMS and ambulance services.
- Responsible for reviewing, maintaining, and developing policies and procedures, maintaining forms and documents and ensuring key processes are carried out consistently and according to policy.
- Identifies and participates in establishment and implementation of quality improvement activities.
- Provides management support and oversight to ensure patient satisfaction.
- Ensures state and regulatory agency standards and DNV NIAHO requirements are met to ensure compliance.
- Demonstrates knowledge of current stroke guidelines, organizational stroke protocols, and oversights the Acute Stroke Ready Program and Stroke Program Committee.
- Develops and achieves agreed upon goals and objectives.
- Directs and oversees proper allocation and use of resources including employees, space, equipment and other resources within the assigned units, activities, and/or projects.
- Evaluates and analyzes operational issues/work process to recommend (and implement) opportunities for improvement.
- Identifies and acts upon opportunities to build accountability and teamwork.
- Identifies, drives, and monitors recruitment and retention activities. Fosters positive work environments.
- a Maintains positive physician relations by being responsive to their needs and concerns and to achieve optimal clinical outcomes.
- Facilitates engagement of medical staff with best practices and evidence-based care.
- Networks and collaborates with others to coordinate and avoid duplication of efforts through teamwork.
- Demonstrates the ability to respond to changing circumstances to maximize opportunities and address problems.
- Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations with others in the accomplishment of hospital goals and shares information appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Participates and serves on professional / civic service organizations /committees and maintains professional growth and development to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
- Acts as a visionary by taking a pro-active leadership role in being creative and resourceful in recommending new ideas/suggestions.
- Facilitates the ED/Family Practice Medical Staff Department Committee.
- Consistently meets or exceeds the GLHS’s Core and Leadership Competencies.
Requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication, management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and lead a team.
- Strong computer literacy and a comprehensive knowledge of all Microsoft Office and multi-dimensional data bases.
Education/Certifications
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Health Care Administration, Allied Health, or Business Administration from an accredited school required within 2 years of hire.
- Registered Nurse with current Ohio licensure.
Experience
- Clinical experience and previous management in hospital/healthcare environment.
- Required to have 8 hours of stroke education annually. Must complete required Heart Failure education annually.
