Emergency Services Program Manager

Location: 241 Greenhouse Road, Lexington, VA Employer: Rockbridge Area Community Services (RACS)

Rockbridge Area Community Services (RACS) is seeking a licensed mental health professional to lead critical crisis response services across Rockbridge and Bath counties. This is an opportunity to guide a dedicated team providing 24/7 emergency psychiatric care to individuals at their most vulnerable moments. In this role, you will directly shape how crisis services are delivered in the community while supporting both staff development and high-quality care.

Position Overview

The Emergency Services Program Manager provides clinical and administrative leadership for RACS's 24/7 Emergency Services Program and the Rockbridge and Bath Region Crisis Intervention Team (RBR CIT) Assessment Site. This role ensures that individuals experiencing mental health or substance use crises receive timely, effective, and compassionate care.

You will oversee daily operations, support and supervise clinical staff, and collaborate with community partners including law enforcement, hospitals, and other service providers. This position combines leadership, program management, and clinical oversight in a fast-paced and highly impactful environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and SupervisionProvide clinical and administrative supervision to Emergency Services and RBR CIT staff to support professional development, accountability, and high-quality service delivery.

Program ManagementOversee the planning, coordination, and ongoing evaluation of crisis services to ensure effective and responsive care across the region.

Crisis Intervention OversightEnsure the delivery of timely and effective emergency psychiatric assessments, interventions, and referrals.

Community CollaborationPartner with local agencies, law enforcement, hospitals, and other stakeholders to strengthen coordinated crisis response efforts.

Compliance and Quality AssuranceMaintain adherence to state regulations, HIPAA requirements, and best practices while continuously improving service quality.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Master's degree in a human services-related field such as social work, counseling, or psychology
  • Current Virginia licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or LCP
  • Minimum of 5 years of behavioral health leadership or supervisory experience
  • Certified Pre-Screener in Virginia, or ability to obtain certification within 3 months of hire
  • Strong knowledge of crisis intervention, emergency psychiatric care, and behavioral health systems

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Advanced expertise in mental health crisis assessment and intervention
  • Experience working with law enforcement and community-based partners
  • Ability to lead effectively in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment while maintaining professionalism and composure
