Job Description

A well-established Iowa law firm is seeking an experienced Employment & Litigation Attorney to join its growing practice. This position is ideal for an attorney who enjoys a combination of employment/labor counseling and civil litigation and is interested in a long-term opportunity with a path to firm ownership.

Responsibilities

Handle employment, labor, and civil litigation matters from inception through resolution or trial.
Counsel employers on workplace issues, including discipline, termination, leave, accommodations, wage and hour compliance, and investigations.
Handle discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, restrictive covenant, and other employment-related claims.
Represent clients before the EEOC, Iowa Civil Rights Commission, Department of Labor, and other agencies.
Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, employment agreements, policies, handbooks, and related documents.
Take and defend depositions and participate in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
Develop strong client relationships and participate in business development.

Qualifications

J.D. from an accredited law school.
5+ years of employment law, labor law, and/or related litigation experience.
Active Iowa Bar admission or ability to obtain admission promptly.
Strong litigation, legal writing, negotiation, and client counseling skills.
Ability to independently manage cases and client relationships.
Employer-side, public-sector, trial, arbitration, or administrative hearing experience is a plus.
