Job Description

Plaintiff-Side FEHA & Wrongful Termination Litigation

$120,000–$170,000 Base Salary + Generous Performance Bonuses + Year-End Bonus

We are seeking an ambitious Employment Law Associate Attorney with 1–4 years of experience to join our Single-Plaintiff Wrongful Termination Department.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney who wants more than a narrow research-and-writing role. You will receive meaningful responsibility, direct client contact, hands-on litigation experience, and the opportunity to develop into an independent case manager—with the training, resources, and supervision needed to succeed.

We are building our firm for the long term and want an attorney who is excited to grow with us. High performers will be recognized, rewarded, and given increasing responsibility. If you become a star at The Sentinel Firm, you will advance quickly and have tremendous long-term opportunities within the firm.

Why Join ?

We place a tremendous emphasis on attorney growth, professional development, and happiness. Our culture is collaborative, supportive, and professional. You will work with capable, approachable people who genuinely enjoy working together—without the unnecessary hierarchy or abrasive personalities sometimes associated with law-firm practice.

At the firm, you can expect:

  • A clear path toward independently managing your own cases
  • Hands-on mentorship from experienced senior attorneys
  • Substantive responsibility early in your career
  • Direct experience with depositions, mediations, hearings, arbitrations, and trial preparation
  • Meaningful work representing employees whose careers and livelihoods have been harmed
  • A generous performance-based bonus structure that rewards results, initiative, and exceptional work
  • A separate year-end discretionary bonus
  • Significant advancement opportunities within a rapidly growing firm
  • A collegial and supportive team environment
  • A brand-new office in downtown Los Angeles

We give our associates real responsibility. The attorney selected for this position will be trained to manage cases from intake through resolution under the supervision of a senior attorney.

The Role

You will represent employees in single-plaintiff employment matters involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, whistleblower claims, and other violations of California employment law.

This position offers the opportunity to work on cases through every phase of litigation while developing the practical skills necessary to become a confident and successful employment litigator.

Responsibilities
  • Handle a caseload devoted exclusively to plaintiff-side employment litigation
  • Investigate and evaluate potential employment claims
  • Develop litigation and settlement strategies in collaboration with senior attorneys
  • Draft complaints, discovery, motions, briefs, mediation statements, settlement agreements, and other legal documents
  • Conduct and defend depositions
  • Represent clients in administrative proceedings, negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and court hearings
  • Communicate directly with clients and provide thoughtful, compassionate counsel
  • Prepare cases for arbitration and trial
  • Participate in trials and gain meaningful, hands-on trial experience
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys and staff to move cases toward successful resolution
  • Maintain litigation deadlines and manage cases efficiently
  • Stay current on developments involving FEHA, whistleblower protections, and other California employment laws
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in the California State Bar and good standing
  • Approximately 1–4 years of employment-law experience
  • Experience handling FEHA, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblower, or wrongful-termination claims
  • Plaintiff-side employment experience strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of California employment law and civil litigation procedure
  • Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
  • Deposition experience preferred
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and exercise sound professional judgment
  • Strong organizational skills and careful attention to detail
  • Confidence interacting with clients, opposing counsel, mediators, arbitrators, and courts
  • Genuine empathy for clients and a commitment to representing employees
  • Motivation to learn, accept responsibility, and develop into an independent case manager
Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $120,000–$170,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.

In addition to a competitive base salary, the firm offers a generous performance-based bonus structure that gives associates the opportunity to meaningfully increase their total compensation. Exceptional results, initiative, productivity, and contributions to the firm are recognized and financially rewarded.

Associates are also eligible for a separate year-end discretionary bonus.

Additional benefits include:

  • Generous performance-based bonus opportunities
  • Separate year-end discretionary bonus
  • Paid vacation
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match
  • Professional-development and continuing-education opportunities
  • Hands-on litigation training and mentorship
  • Supportive and collaborative working environment
  • Significant potential for advancement
Location

This is a full-time, 100% in-office position at our brand-new downtown Los Angeles office. Remote and hybrid arrangements are not available for this role.

Our in-person structure is intentional. It gives developing attorneys greater access to senior attorneys, faster feedback, closer collaboration, and more opportunities to learn through day-to-day involvement in active cases.

If you are an ambitious plaintiff-side employment attorney looking for meaningful responsibility, strong mentorship, substantial litigation experience, generous bonus opportunities, and the chance to build a long-term career at a rapidly growing firm, we encourage you to apply.
