Job Description
Primary Purpose:
The Employment Specialist provides first‑class customer service, support, and leadership throughout the recruitment, staffing, and hourly new‑hire post‑offer process. This role manages full‑cycle recruitment for the complex, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and aligning candidates with business needs. The specialist extends offers, coordinates all post‑offer steps, and partners closely with the Employment Manager, hiring managers, and Retention to meet staffing goals.
Because our workforce includes a large population of Haitian Creole–speaking applicants and employees, fluency in Haitian Creole and English is essential. Bilingual communication supports accurate, respectful, and efficient interactions during interviews, onboarding, compliance reviews, and daily HR support.
This position requires strong working knowledge of key employment regulations, including Form I‑9 compliance, E‑Verify, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and all federal and state hiring requirements. The specialist must be able to evaluate identity and work authorization documents, identify acceptable documentation, and ensure all hires meet legal age and work eligibility requirements.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Leads the full interview, hiring, and post‑offer process, ensuring all documentation, steps, and compliance requirements are completed accurately and on time.
- Communicates effectively in both Haitian Creole and English to support applicants and employees, ensuring clarity during interviews, onboarding, and compliance conversations.
- Ensures strict adherence to employment compliance standards, including work authorization, age requirements, Form I‑9 accuracy, and timely E‑Verify completion.
- Identifies fraudulent or non‑matching documents and ensures only fully authorized applicants continue in the hiring process.
- Conducts regular audits of I‑9 and compliance activities to maintain accuracy and mitigate risk.
- Builds strong relationships with employees, supervisors, managers, and community partners to increase applicant flow and referrals.
- Provides exceptional customer service to candidates and internal stakeholders, ensuring a positive and supportive hiring experience.
- Exercises sound judgment when addressing challenges and escalates issues appropriately.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of Human Resources experience or equivalent education.
- Fluency in Haitian Creole or Spanish is preferred (written and verbal).
- Experience with Oracle HCM preferred.
- Training or experience with HireRight, E‑Verify, Form I‑9, and ADA processes.
- Ability to identify fraudulent or non‑matching documents to ensure compliance with work authorization and age requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
- Excellent time management and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with applicant tracking systems.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving and logical reasoning skills.
