is seeking an experienced Engineer IV to support the development and execution of utility-scale renewable energy projects throughout Florida, including solar generation and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. This role will provide technical leadership and project engineering support from project initiation through construction and commissioning.The Engineer IV will serve as a key technical resource, partnering with project managers, contractors, engineering consultants, and operational stakeholders to ensure projects are designed, constructed, and implemented safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards. This position requires frequent travel to project sites across Florida and will involve a blend of field oversight and office-based engineering responsibilities. Key ResponsibilitiesProvide engineering support for utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects throughout the project lifecycle.Review engineering designs, technical specifications, construction drawings, equipment submittals, and contractor deliverables.Support project development, detailed design, construction, commissioning, and turnover activities. Serve as the technical liaison between engineering consultants, contractors, project managers, operations personnel, and other stakeholders.Identify and resolve technical issues impacting project execution, schedule, cost, or quality.Conduct site visits to monitor construction activities, verify compliance with engineering requirements, and support project troubleshooting. Evaluate design alternatives and provide technical recommendations to optimize project performance and reliability.Support project scope development, risk assessments, constructability reviews, and engineering estimates.Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, environmental regulations, and company engineering practices. Assist in reviewing contractor requests for information (RFIs), engineering change requests, and field modifications.Support commissioning activities and operational readiness reviews.Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to company safety requirements. Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program.Minimum 6+ years of engineering experience supporting utility, energy, industrial, construction, or infrastructure projects.Experience supporting large capital projects through design and construction phases. Strong understanding of engineering principles, design review processes, and construction coordination.Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, calculations, and engineering documentation.Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external contractors.Preferred QualificationsFamiliar with transmission interconnected renewable resourcesUnderstanding of applicable NERC (PRC-006, PRC-012, PRC-023, PRC-025, PRC-027, PRC-028, PRC-029, PRC-030, CIP-002, and CIP-10) regulationsFamiliar with specifications for major electrical equipment including large power transformers, LV/MV cables, LV/MV switchgear, protective relaying devicesExperience in power systems modeling using ETAP or SKMExperience with design and construction of electrical power systemsExperience with development of AC and DC schematics for protective relaying systemsKnowledge of relay settings calculations for protective relays associated with Inverter Based ResourcesFamiliar with principles of project management in the utility industryUnderstanding of industry standards including NESC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 855, IEEE 1547, and IEEE 2800.Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam and desire to complete PE license. Work Environment & TravelFrequent travel throughout Florida is required.The preferred based location is St. Petersburg, FL. However, the hiring manager will consider assigning a base location in other Florida locations.Expected onsite presence of approximately 3 days per week at active project locations.
