Job Description
We have an immediate opening for an Engineering / Prototype Assembly Technician. This candidate is responsible for assembling and supporting the build of specialized furnace equipment and prototype systems. This role works closely with engineering and production teams to fabricate, assemble, and modify equipment using mechanical components, piping, and structural materials. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and experience working with hand and power tools.
This could be a temporary role for a few weeks, or for the right candidate, it could go long-term.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble specialized furnace equipment and prototype systems according to engineering drawings and specifications.
Install and assemble threaded piping, fittings, nuts, and mechanical components.
Measure, cut, and install Unistrut framing and support structures using appropriate power tools.
Perform tube bending and piping assembly as required for equipment builds.
Operate hand and power tools including drills, grinders, saws, and other fabrication tools.
Assemble PVC piping systems, including cutting pipe and installing fittings using primer and solvent cement.
Support engineering teams with prototype modifications, adjustments, and troubleshooting.
Ensure all assemblies meet quality, safety, and design requirements.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures.
Assist with moving materials, staging components, and general shop support.
Qualifications
Mechanical aptitude and experience with equipment assembly or fabrication.
Experience working with hand tools and power tools in a shop or manufacturing environment.
Ability to read basic mechanical drawings or assembly instructions.
Experience with piping systems, tube bending, or structural framing is a plus.
Ability to safely lift materials and work in a fabrication/shop environment.
Forklift experience or certification is a strong plus.
Preferred Experience
Prototype assembly, mechanical fabrication, or equipment build experience.
Experience working with industrial equipment, furnaces, or process systems.
Familiarity with Unistrut systems, piping assemblies, and basic mechanical construction.
