You'll work side-by-side with engineers from multiple disciplines, gaining firsthand experience in both office and field settings. This role empowers you to apply your academic training to projects that matter—enhancing public health, environmental quality, and long-term water security for the communities we serve..

Your daily impact:

  • Assist in preliminary and detailed design tasks for water, wastewater, and recycled water projects.
  • Conduct research and technology comparisons to evaluate treatment and conveyance system alternatives.
  • Support preparation of specifications, bid packages, and construction submittal reviews under supervision.
  • Participate in field observation and quality assurance activities, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, including Civil, Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical engineers.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of field observations, calculations, and non-compliance issues.
  • Learn and apply engineering design principles, construction practices, and project management concepts.
  • Contribute to proposals and other business development efforts as opportunities arise.
  • Perform general office duties and assist with a wide range of engineering tasks as required.

What you bring to the table:

  • Currently enrolled as a junior or senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil/Environmental, Mechanical, Electrical, or Structural Engineering from an accredited program.
  • Strong academic foundation with coursework related to water, wastewater, and infrastructure design preferred.
  • Interest in real-world applications of engineering concepts to community water systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); exposure to CAD or modeling software a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.

Unlock Your Benefits and Rewards:

As an Engineering Intern at Water Works Engineers, you'll enjoy valuable benefits from day one to support your well-being and career growth. You'll accrue paid time off (PTO) and receive holiday pay.
