Position Overview
Carter Support Services is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and oversee mechanical engineering operations across a variety of projects. This role is responsible for managing engineering staff, ensuring the accuracy and quality of all design work, and driving continuous improvement across engineering processes.
The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with strong leadership capabilities and hands-on experience in HVAC, piping, and plumbing system design.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all engineering and design work prepared by the team
- Manage full-cycle design and layout of mechanical engineering projects
- Develop in-house detailed engineering plans, as well as conceptual and presentation-level designs
- Ensure accuracy, quality, and timeliness of engineering documentation
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external consultants and vendors
- Coordinate engineering schedules with project managers and project timelines
- Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and pre- and post-construction meetings
- Develop, implement, and maintain engineering standards and best practices
- Mentor, train, and evaluate engineering staff performance
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously across varying scopes
- Utilize and oversee design work in Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks
- Perform additional duties as required
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) License – Required
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical, construction, or related engineering fields
- At least 5 years of leadership or supervisory experience managing engineering teams
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass pre-employment screening
