We have an exciting opportunity for you as an Engineering Manager on our Building Construction Products Team where you will provide leadership for the Compact Track Loader (CTL) & Skid Steer Loader (SSL) Chassis and Current Product Engineering Team in Sanford, NC.

Role Summary: You will coach, guide, and facilitate an engineering team in the concept, development, validation, and production release of new CTL & SSL Chassis designs including bracketry, hoses, tubes, tanks, and more to achieve customer and business requirements including machine performance, cost, sourcing, and world-wide manufacturing goals. In this role you will work closely with the Sanford team to drive Current Product support for deviation requests, engineering root cause investigation, shiphold responses and more. This role will create and maintain an organizational culture which encourages innovation, collaboration, excitement, and a sense of urgency towards business success in a growing industry.

What You'll Do (Job Duties)

  • Lead and develop a globally responsible engineering team to develop new prime product chassis components.
  • Develop strategic vision and multi-generation product planning of integrated systems, processes, and technologies through collaboration with worldwide cross functional teams and process partners.
  • Prioritize team workload based on technical risks, customer value, commercial impact, and factory velocity / efficiency.
  • Execute on time, cost, and quality requirements aligned with product group and value chain / partner requirements.
  • Develop technical specifications to achieve functional requirements of the product and the current product facilities that manufacture the product.
  • Develop people and network of resources that achieves deep technical expertise and team effectiveness, while providing a competitive and flexible cost structure.
  • Coordination and technical support of worldwide NPI builds.
  • Formulation and management of short and long-term budgets.

What You Have (Core Skills)

  • Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
  • Customer/Market Focus: Understanding of the importance of remaining aware of shifting market priorities and ability to respond to internal and external customer needs in a manner that consistently adds value.
  • Managing People: Knowledge of processes involved in managing people; ability to lead successful teams and diligently address issues related to performance and conflicts at the workplace.
  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.

Top Candidates Will Also Have

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • Experience in products, processes, design and evaluation, and organization vision, procedures, and policies
  • Experience as a successful leader; demonstration of your capability to lead, motivate and influence.
  • The ability to work/lead multiple projects simultaneously and to make sound priority decisions
  • The ability to work in, and enjoy working in, a dynamic environment, adapting to and driving change
  • Proven people development skills
  • Technical experience related to Compact Track Loaders and Skid Steer Loaders
  • Demonstrated expertise in New Product Introduction

  • Work location: Sanford, NC

  • This position requires 5 days per week in the office (M-F)

Summary Pay Range:

$128,470.00 - $192,710.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
