About E&ES

Caterpillar's Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified powertrain, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries.

Job Summary

The Motor and Generator Solutions Team at Caterpillar develops the motors and generators that drive electric powertrains across the company's machine portfolio. In the Engineering Project Team Lead role, you will lead the design and development of next‑generation motor and generator technologies while also advancing the performance, cost-effectiveness, and durability of current products.

What You Will Do

  • Establish project scopes, goals, and deliverables for motor component projects, and oversee their execution in accordance with Caterpillar processes.

  • Work with the machine business divisions and drivetrain system engineering groups to establish application requirements for motor components.

  • Leverage knowledge and experience of Caterpillar SMEs to leverage best practices, improve design efficiency, and raise the overall skill level of our team.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between engineering, product management, leadership, and external partners, providing clear and timely technical and non‑technical status updates.

  • Communicate risks, issues, and dependencies early while effectively managing expectations around project scope, timelines, and resources.

  • Track engineering labor hours and project costs while helping forecast resource needs and optimizing staffing and workflows for efficient, high‑quality project execution.

What You Will Have

Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering discipline.

Technical Excellence: Extensive experience and knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.

Requirements Analysis: Extensive experience and knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.

  • Plays an active or leading role in recording and storing requirement documents in various forms.

  • Ensures the successful completion of all major activities, tasks and deliverables pertaining to the requirement analysis stage.

  • Supervises the advanced use of requirements analysis tools and services, including prototyping and use cases.

  • Produces detailed functional and information requirements models and documentation.

  • Trains others on requirements walkthroughs and quality reviews.

  • Utilizes automated diagramming tools to ensure traceability of requirements.

Product Design and Development: Extensive experience and knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.

  • Develops organizational standards and processes in order to maximize complex product services' efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Creates and introduces new techniques that expedite or simplify the development process.

  • Supervises the management of multiple and diverse types of products or services.

  • Develops proof-of-concept exercises to prove or disprove validity of proposed products.

  • Advises on the appropriate solutions to complex product design and development problems.

  • Designs working prototypes of a variety of proposed products or services.

Summary Pay Range:

$128,470.00 - $192,710.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
