Job Description

A defense manufacturing organization is seeking an Engineering Team Lead to support technical execution and provide day-to-day leadership for a small team of engineers. This role is heavily focused on people leadership, team coordination, and engineering oversight, while also contributing to project execution. The ideal candidate has strong technical fundamentals, experience guiding engineers on project work, and the ability to translate strategy into disciplined engineering execution.

Engineering Team Lead Responsibilities:

Lead and mentor a team of 2-4 engineers, providing technical direction, coaching, and performance feedback
Allocate resources, balance workloads, and ensure priorities align with company objectives
Drive engineering execution to meet cost, schedule, quality, and regulatory requirements
Translate strategic objectives into clear milestones and actionable plans for the team
Identify technical and execution risks early and implement mitigation strategies
Oversee design reviews, change management processes, and technical decision-making
Ensure compliance with customer, internal, and regulatory requirements
Provide status updates, risk assessments, and performance metrics to senior leadership
Support cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, quality, program management, and operations
Contribute directly to project execution and technical problem solving as needed
Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and engineering rigor

Engineering Team Lead Requirements:

6+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing, production, or defense-related industries
Demonstrated experience leading engineers on project-based work, even without formal direct reports
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field strongly preferred
