Summary

Supports engineering activities such as assembly, test, modification, fabrication and troubleshooting X-ray tubes, electro-mechanical systems or other test equipment. Works with engineers to support manufacturing and improve products and processes. Works from written and verbal descriptions. Documents test results and process steps to assist with improvement of products, tooling, equipment and processes. Trains production personnel on manufacturing processes to ensure smooth transitions from engineering to production.

Key Responsibilities

• Supports engineers to improve performance of existing products and manufacturing processes

• Uses problem solving techniques and root cause analysis to address technical issues with products, including manufacturing issues

• Methodically collects and analyzes data from experiments, ideally using Six Sigma tools

• Supports implementation of new equipment including testing and validation

• Documents and reports on results of testing, including validation reports

• Provides documentation to support manufacturing using new parts, assemblies and/or processes

Preferred Experience/Skills/Knowledge

• Associate degree or equivalent experience

• Knowledge of root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques

• Experience with Six Sigma tools is a plus

• Experience with different manufacturing processes and working with engineers and production personnel to solve problems

• Experience with X-ray tubes or other high vacuum devices is beneficial

• Excellent oral and written communication skills to collaborate with internal and external professionals

• Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Typical Education and Experience

• Associate's degree or equivalent

• 0 - 2 years of experience

ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation.

• Heavy work that will frequently require employee to lift/move up to 30 lbs. and occasionally lift more than 50 lbs.

• Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or moving heavy equipment and/or supplies frequently

• Reaching above and below the shoulder frequently.

• Above-average agility and dexterity with the ability to hold, grasp and manipulate small parts and use hand and power tools frequently.

• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and handle physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, walking, bending, crouching, stretching, reaching, repetitive motion, or similar activities.

• Work environments includes: exposure to chemicals, electrical current, proximity to moving mechanical parts, repetitive hand motion, open flame, hot environment, uneven surface, fumes.
