Job Description Summary

We are seeking a Controls Engineering Manager in the Projects Coordination Office (PCO) to coordinate, and project manage the definition, integration, and delivery of power and controls solutions for GE Vernova systems supporting data center and mission-critical applications. This role sits at the intersection of controls engineering, system integration, grid interconnection, and customer delivery, ensuring reliable, compliant, and scalable controls solutions across multi-vendor platforms leveraging controls architectures developed by Consulting Services and Business Units.The Controls Engineering Manager will project manage cross-functional teams spanning gas turbines, generators, BESS, EMS, protection & control (P&C), and SCADA, and will serve as the PCO technical liaison for controls strategy from concept through commissioning.The position requires deep technical expertise, proven field leadership, and the ability to manage interfaces across multiple technology domains and business units during the entire lifecycle of project delivery.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and project manage the definition and execution of controls architecture and Concept of Operations for GEV system solutions supporting data centers collaborating closely with Consulting Services and Business Unit engineering teams.
  • Serve as PCO technical liaison for controls across gas turbines, generators, excitation systems, protection & control, BESS, EMS, and SCADA.
  • Act as the subject matter expert (SME) forGE Mark VIe / Mark VIeS control platforms, including hardware architecture, I/O design, and redundancy schemes.
  • Coordinate controls scope from proposal through commissioning and handover, ensuring quality, schedule, and compliance objectives are met.
  • Define and manage controls interfaces across GE Vernova businesses, EPC partners, third-party vendors, and customer systems.
  • Support grid-connected and behind-the-meter applications, including interconnection requirements (e.g., ERCOT).
  • Coordinate controls inputs to interconnection, protection, and stability studies in collaboration with Consulting Services.
  • Project manage controls designs to meet applicable NERC, IEEE, UL, and utility standards.
  • Support FAT/SAT, commissioning, and issue resolution for complex, multi-unit projects.
  • Drive standardization, lessons learned, and continuous improvement across PCO programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in power generation controls, protection & control, or power systems integration.
  • Experience with gas turbines, generators, excitation systems, and plant-level controls.
  • Strong understanding of power system controls, protection schemes, and grid interconnection.
  • Experience supporting data center or mission-critical power applications.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional and multi-vendor technical teams.
  • Proven track record in cross-functional collaboration and integrated system design.
  • Strong understanding of power generation technologies, energy storage systems, and grid interconnection requirements.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience managing multi-discipline teams in global, matrixed organizations

Desired Characteristics

  • Master’s degree in engineering
  • Experience within GE Vernova Gas Power, Electrification Systems, or Consulting Services.
  • Familiarity with ERCOT or other ISO/RTO interconnection processes.
  • Experience with EMS, BESS, and hybrid power plant controls.
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills, including engagement with hyperscale customers.
  • Project leadership experience in PCO, EPC, or system integration environments.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $132,200.00 and $220,400.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
