Job Description

Engineers and sustains Operating System Deployment (OSD) capabilities used to provision, refresh, and recover DHA endpoints supported by DDSB. This role standardizes imaging and provisioning processes, improves build success rates, and ensures deployments remain compliant with DHA security baselines.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

    • Design and maintain standardized workstation and server images aligned with DHA-approved baselines, configuration standards, and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
    • Develop and sustain OSD task sequences for bare-metal, refresh, and in-place upgrade scenarios using Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT), Windows Deployment Services (WDS), WinPE, and MECM as applicable.
    • Manage driver packages and hardware compatibility matrices; validate new hardware models, BIOS/firmware baselines, and peripheral requirements before production use.
    • Maintain boot images, PXE configuration, and pre-boot security controls; coordinate required network services and ports/protocols with Enterprise Management and systems administration staff.
    • Integrate user data and settings migration (e.g., USMT) and approved preservation methods to minimize downtime and reduce rework during refresh events.
    • Support transition toward modern provisioning in MED365 cloud services (e.g., Intune-driven provisioning where approved), ensuring policy-based configuration and application delivery remain reliable.
    • Troubleshoot complex OSD failures (task sequence errors, driver injection, PXE failures, post-install policy/application issues) and provide Tier 3 escalation support.
    • Coordinate OSD deployments through approved change processes and maintenance windows; publish customer communications and validate readiness prerequisites.
    • Maintain imaging documentation, validation checklists, and knowledge articles; ensure repeatable build steps and consistent recovery procedures.
    • Refresh images and task sequences on a controlled cadence to incorporate approved cumulative updates, security patches, language packs, and required configuration changes.
    • Track OSD performance metrics (build success rate, time-to-provision, failure causes) and drive corrective actions to reduce repeat incidents.
    • Coordinate with packaging and endpoint teams to ensure required applications, security agents, and baselines are integrated appropriately into provisioning workflows.

Education & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a closely related discipline or equivalent practical experience (as permitted by the contract).
    • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience supporting enterprise IT environments, with demonstrated work aligned to Tier 3 Level EM OSD Support Services.

Certifications

    • At least one: Cloud+, GICSP, SSCP, Security+, or GSEC.
    • Alternate/equivalent certifications may be accepted with Government approval.
    • Preferred/Work-center dependent: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate.

Security Clearance

    • Must be able to obtain and maintain Public Trust suitability and all required system access (e.g., CAC-enabled accounts) to perform duties.

Other (Travel, Work Environment, DoD 8570 Requirements, Administrative Notes, etc.)

    • Work is primarily on-site in San Antonio, TX; limited remote work may be allowed when authorized by the Government and mission requirements permit. Work may require after-hours, weekend, and/or on-call support as directed, including support during scheduled maintenance windows, high-impact incidents, vulnerability response actions, inspections, and surge periods.
    • This position is aligned to applicable DoD Manual 8140.03 work role 451 (NIST: OM-SA-001); contractor personnel must meet DoD 8570.01-M baseline certification requirements and transition to DoD Manual 8140.03 work role requirements, including required training, knowledge, skills, abilities, and tasks, within Government-directed timelines.
