Job Title: Entry Laboratory Science Professional

Job Summary:

The ideal Entry Laboratory Science Professionals will have the ability to perform duties in an experimental lab, or wet lab, and handle a variety of chemicals and/or potential "wet" hazards. Entry Laboratory Science Professionals perform duties in laboratories where chemicals, drugs, or other materials or biological matters are tested and analyzed. This position will work with laboratory-based translational research on brain tumors, with a focus on epigenetics and immunology of pediatric diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), high-grade glioma (HGG), and other pediatric brain tumors. The duties of this position may change from time to time and/or based on business need. We reserve the right to add or delete duties and responsibilities at the discretion of the supervisor and/or hiring authority.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and other stakeholders with laboratory and research functions, including project planning.

  • Utilize a variety of laboratory techniques required for research projects.

  • Culturing of brain tumor cell lines.

  • Conducting experiments using techniques including drug and radiation treatment of cell lines and mice, western blot, shRNA/CRISPR-Cas, qPCR, protein/RNA/DNA extraction, immunofluorescence microscopic cell imaging, and mouse dissection.

  • Perform experiments and tabulate and analyze research.

  • Support analytical testing process using standard lab support knowledge in the collection and review of conditions, including preserving samples, completing sample preparation, documenting, and communicating results.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, cancer biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or a related field.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship. We are unable to provide work visa sponsorship or employment authorization for this position now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience or background within an experimental or wet lab (e.g., cell culture, rodent models, molecular biology techniques).

  • Previous internship (e.g., summer experience) or extracurricular (outside of college lab courses) experience in an academic research laboratory.

  • Previous internship (e.g., summer experience) or extracurricular (outside of college lab courses) experience working with pediatric brain tumor models and/or T-cell biology.

  • Previous full-time employment in an academic research lab.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be willing and able to pass national criminal and sex offender background checks.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to initiate and complete tasks independently.

  • Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques, including safety procedures and techniques.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

  • Outstanding customer service skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability.

  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.

  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.

  • Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office programs and can conduct basic statistical analysis.

The hiring range for this position has been established as $47,811 to $64,067.

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
