Job DescriptionCB is establishing a roster of independent Environmental & Social (E&S) Specialists to support DFI clients on short-term, demand‑driven technical studies and advisory assignments. Specialists will be engaged on an as‑needed basis, with specific scopes, timelines, and levels of effort defined through individual task orders issued over the duration of the panel. Task orders may involve standalone technical studies or targeted inputs into broader investment, due diligence, or monitoring assignments in any of the following disciplines: 

  • Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Management (pollution prevention, resource efficiency, emissions, waste, process safety, fire & life safety, contractor management) 

  • Social Performance (stakeholder engagement, community interface, grievance mechanisms, land access, resettlement, and livelihoods) 

  • Labor and Working Conditions (including supply chain labor risks) 

  • Financial Intermediary E&S Systems and Portfolio Management (ESMS design, implementation, and subproject oversight) 

  • Community Health, Safety, and Security (traffic safety, emergency preparedness, security practices) 

  • Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services 

  • Water Resources, Hydrogeology, and Effluent Control 

  • Air Quality and Noise Management 

  • Gender-based Violence / Sexual Exploitation and Abuse / Sexual Harassment Risk Management 

  • Cultural Heritage and Archaeology 

  • Climate, Energy, and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Assessment 

  • Industrial Processes, Waste, and Tailings Engineering 

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant E&S experience in one or more of the disciplines listed above, including on-the-ground work in emerging markets 

  • Demonstrated experience applying international lender standards, including the IFC Performance Standards (IFC PS), to complex projects 

  • Experience developing and/or reviewing Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs) and associated management plans (e.g., ESMPs), including for complex industrial projects 

  • Experience conducting E&S due diligence and compliance monitoring for international lenders and Development Finance Institutions / Multilateral Development Banks (DFIs/MDBs), including site visits and preparation of lender-facing reports 

  • A collaborative approach to working with teams, clients and other stakeholders 

  • Additional eligibility requirements (e.g., nationality, security clearance) may apply for specific task orders and will be defined at task‑order stage
