What you will be doing:

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive environmental, health, and safety programs that ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations while supporting a culture of safety throughout the organization.This position serves as the site's subject matter expert for environmental compliance, occupational safety, regulatory permitting, employee training, and risk reduction initiatives. This is an onsite role at the Teledyne facility in Sparks, Maryland. Candidate must be a US citizen with either an active Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain one. Candidate must possess demonstrated hands-on experience managing environmental compliance programs, permits, and regulatory reporting within a manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead EH&S initiatives at the TESI Sparks, MD location, ensuring adherence to all applicable regulations.

  • Develop, implement, and update EHS policies and procedures, including chemical safety, ergonomics, injury prevention, and building safety.

  • Manage and maintain environmental, health, and safety programs in compliance with EPA, OSHA, MDE, and other applicable regulatory requirements. 

  • Maintain all environmental and regulatory permits and ensure compliance with permit requirements. 

  • Prepare, submit, and maintain required environmental reports, records, and regulatory filings. 

  • Manage wastewater, stormwater, hazardous waste, air permitting, and other environmental compliance activities as applicable. 

  • Conduct workplace inspections, risk assessments, compliance audits, and incidentinvestigations. 

  • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to mitigate workplace hazards and compliance risks. 

  • Develop, deliver, and maintain EHS training programs for employees and management. 

  • Lead emergency preparedness, response planning, and business continuity efforts related to EHS. 

  • Partner with management to foster a proactive safety culture and drive continuous improvement initiatives. 

  • Monitor regulatory changes and ensure organizational compliance with new or revised requirements. 

  • Deliver and oversee EHS training programs, including new hire orientation and ongoing compliance topics.

  • Track and report EHS metrics, trends, and performance indicators. 

  • Supportinternal and external audits and regulatory inspections.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of environmental, health, and safety compliance program design requirements and proven ability to implement effective programs, including developing and delivering training, conducting audits, and ensuring regulatory compliance. 

  • Proficient in assessing workplace hazards and implementing effective control strategies. 

  • Experience managing hazardous waste programs and knowledge of HAZWOPER requirements preferred.

  • Experienced in maintaining compliance with environmental and other regulatory permits. 

  • Experienced in preparing and submitting: Industrial wastewater discharge monitoring reports; Wastewater and stormwater discharge permit applications; Biennial Hazardous Waste Reports; Tier II Reports; and, Other environmental, health, and safety regulatory submissions 

  • Experienced in environmental compliance, OSHA regulations, and safety training delivery. 

  • Experienced in reviewing, interpreting, and applying EPA, OSHA, and other applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations. 

  • Working knowledge of lockout/tagout, machine guarding, hazard communication, fire protection, emergency response, and emergency planning requirements. 

  • Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to influence change and drive a positive safety culture. 

  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities while meeting deadlines. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field required.

  • 5+ years of progressive EHS experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably including direct environmental compliance responsibilities.

  • Experience managing environmental permits, reporting requirements, and regulatory inspections.

  • Professional certification in environmental, health, or safety disciplines (e.g., CHMM, REM, CSP, CIH) is preferred.

  • Current HAZWOPER certification, or the ability to obtain certification, is preferred.

Salary Range:

$114,800.00-$153,100.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, local regulations (such as minimum wage), education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
