Position Title: Environmental Compliance, Emerging Talent Intern

Hourly Rate: $19.00 (Undergraduate)

All internship positions are onsite and require regular, in-person attendance at the designated work location.

OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT:

The Environmental Compliance and Management (EC&M) department ensures operational environmental compliance and supports fueling operations across MTA Bus and the NYCT Department of Buses organizations. EC&M serves 28 depots and central maintenance facilities located throughout the five boroughs of New York City and Westchester.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Inventories greenhouse gas-containing facilities equipment.
• Creates and updates environmental asset layouts utilizing AutoCAD or equivalent software.
• Coordinates inspection efforts with facility managers and other Plant and Equipment personnel.
• Assists in audit preparation by obtaining and organizing relevant data and reports.
• Tracks corrective actions related to deficiencies identified during inspections.
• Assists in preparation of diesel fuel quality data reports.
• Prepares updates to facility emergency response plans.
• Attends facility walkthroughs at bus depots with EC&M staff.

PROJECTS:

• NYS DEC greenhouse gas registration inventory.
• Environmental asset layout update project.
• Corrective action tracking project.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
• The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills.
• The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
• The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

• Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA.
• Major(s) Preferred: STEM (engineering, physical sciences, environmental sciences), or related field.
