Job Description

Geoquest USA, Inc. (formerly The Reinforced Earth Company) is recognized as the inventor and market leader of the MSE (Mechanically Stabilized Earth) retaining wall industry. The company provides the design and supply of materials of proprietary retaining wall systems and earth related technologies to contractors and owners for use in civil engineering. Our company works as a sub-contractor/material supplier on DOT and privately owned projects. We perform all duties associated with our jobs from sales, marketing, civil engineering/design, supply, and construction support.

Position Summary

The EHS Manager provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of Geoquest’s Environmental, Health & Safety programs within the manufacturing facilities.

This role partners closely with Plant Management and EHS Department to ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable industry regulations, while driving consistent implementation of Geoquest’s corporate EHS standards and performance expectations.

In addition to supporting day-to-day compliance and risk management efforts, the EHS Zone Manager plays a key role in advancing the organization’s EHS maturity by contributing to the development and deployment of a robust management system framework aligned with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, strengthening governance, operational discipline, and long-term sustainability across the business unit.

Responsibilities & Competencies

Regulatory Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable state regulations across all regional facilities.
  • Lead implementation and continuous improvement of corporate EHS policies, procedures, and management systems.
  • Oversee environmental permitting, reporting, and adherence to all regulatory authorization requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and timely regulatory reporting, including OSHA logs, environmental reports, and corporate EHS metrics.
  • Provide EHS oversight for external contractors and subcontractors operating within Geoquest facilities, ensuring compliance with OSHA multi-employer requirements, site-specific safety rules, and corporate EHS standards.

Leadership & Regional Oversight

  • Provide strategic oversight and leadership within the respective manufacturing facilities.
  • Partner closely with plant leadership and operational management to integrate EHS standards into daily manufacturing operations.
  • Co-chair monthly regional EHS meetings to review performance, compliance status, KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop, manage, and track EHS budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources to support compliance, risk reduction initiatives, capital safety improvements, and corporate EHS objectives.
  • Lead deployment of corporate and group-level EHS campaigns and strategic initiatives within manufacturing plants.

Risk Management & Incident Prevention

  • Conduct and oversee comprehensive risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and hazard identification initiatives.
  • Direct incident management processes, including investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and formal reporting to corporate leadership.
  • Drive proactive safety initiatives to reduce recordable incidents, workers’ compensation claims, and environmental risks.
  • Oversee Workers’ Compensation coordination and return-to-work programs as applicable.

Audits, Inspections & Continuous Improvement

  • Conduct routine, documented site inspections and compliance audits across all facilities.
  • Oversee regional cross-audit programs to standardize EHS practices and elevate performance consistency.
  • Analyze safety and environmental performance data to identify trends and implement targeted improvement strategies.
  • Support internal and external audits and lead management review processes.

Training & Culture Development

  • Develop, implement, and deliver EHS training programs aligned with OSHA standards and operational risks.
  • Mentor and coach junior EHS personnel to strengthen leadership capability and regulatory knowledge.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture rooted in accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive EHS management experience in manufacturing, construction, or general industry environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-site safety programs and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Recognized national or international EHS certification (e.g. CSP, CIH, CHST, NEBOSH, or equivalent) preferred.
  • OSHA 510 and/or OSHA 511 certification preferred.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1910 & 1926 standards, EPA regulations, and DOT compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing EHS programs, SOPs, training systems, and compliance frameworks within manufacturing operations.
  • Experience managing environmental compliance, reporting systems, and permitting requirements.
  • Working knowledge of Workers’ Compensation processes and claims management.

Leadership Competencies

  • Demonstrated ability to influence operational leadership and drive safety accountability at all organizational levels.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred to support diverse workforce populations.

Work Environment / Physical Demands:

  • Responsibilities will be carried out in both a traditional office environment under traditional office conditions and in both indoor and outdoor manufacturing facilities.
  • Must be able to coordinate or lead employees among different levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, standing, walking, and driving.
  • May be exposed to uncomfortable or distracting sounds or noise levels in facilities being managed or coordinated.
  • Able to wear personal protective clothing for prolonged periods; Safety helmet with chinstrap, safety shoes, eye protection, hand protection and hearing protection (as required).
