Location: Rockville, MD. This is an on-site opportunity with regular field engagement across active construction projects, giving you direct visibility and influence where safety matters most.

Note: Candidates must have 4+ years of occupational Environmental Health and Safety experience in construction, an STS certification or equivalent, a CHST certification or equivalent, and strong knowledge of OSHA and applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations. A bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Safety Sciences, or a related field is required unless supported by equivalent safety experience.

Job Description

  • Lead comprehensive EHS audits, inspections, and risk identification across complex and high-risk construction projects.
  • Identify hazards, implement corrective actions, and ensure issues are documented and resolved promptly.
  • Review and approve Job Hazard Analyses, Pre-Task Plans, and high-risk work scopes.
  • Integrate EHS requirements into preconstruction, logistics, project planning, and field execution.
  • Lead project safety kickoffs, trade partner meetings, and leadership discussions around risk mitigation and safety performance.
  • Manage incident investigations, root cause analyses, corrective actions, and follow-up documentation.
  • Develop and deliver advanced safety education and project-specific training.
  • Analyze EHS performance data, trends, assessments, and metrics to drive proactive improvements.
  • Lead OSHA inspections, insurance audits, regulatory interactions, and third-party evaluations.
  • Develop and refine EHS policies, procedures, systems, and compliance programs.
  • Supervise, mentor, and provide day-to-day guidance to EHS staff.
  • Support environmental compliance, industrial hygiene, exposure control, client safety initiatives, and loss prevention efforts.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of occupational EHS experience within the construction industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Safety Sciences, or a related field, or equivalent safety experience.
  • Safety Trained Supervisor certification or equivalent.
  • Construction Health and Safety Technician certification or equivalent.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA and federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Experience with field audits, high-risk construction activities, incident investigation, and corrective action management.
  • Strong communication, training, leadership, and trade partner management skills.
  • Experience mentoring or supervising EHS professionals is strongly preferred.
