Job Description

Based in Yakima, WA, Triumph Actuation and Landing Gear Systems designs, manufactures, assembles, tests, and provides MRO services for aerospace products and systems that include hydraulic actuators, hydraulic valves and manifolds, hydraulic fuses, and repeatable release holdback bars and employs more than 240 employees. Triumph Actuation Products and Services- Yakima is an industry leader in landing gear actuation, providing actuation components to every major aircraft manufacturer.  Triumph Actuation Products and Services- Yakima is also the sole supplier of the critical repeatable release holdback bars used for launching US Navy fighter jets from aircraft carriers. TRIUMPH has provided every holdback bar since the F-14.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Site EHS Specialist ensures regulatory compliance and supports a strong safety culture through incident investigation, environmental management, training, and coordination with employees, the Safety Committee, and site leadership.

Essential Functions

Safety Programs and Site Support

  • Serve as a safety champion, promoting proactive hazard awareness, safe behaviors, and continuous improvement throughout the site.
  • Coordinate and guide the Safety Committee to ensure productive meetings, effective follow‑through on action items, and meaningful participation in safety initiatives.
  • Assist with emergency preparedness planning, drills, equipment readiness, and required documentation.
  • Manage and maintain assigned safety programs, including lockout/tagout, mobile equipment, contractor safety, and safe work practices.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, injuries, and illnesses; perform root‑cause analysis and support implementation and verification of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support the return‑to‑work (RTW) and accommodation process in collaboration with HR leadership, supervisors, and corporate partners.

Regulatory Compliance and Environmental Management

  • Ensure compliance with GMP and applicable regulatory standards, including WA OSHA, WA EPA, and all relevant federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations.

Maintain Triumph's Environmental Management System (EMS) and support ongoing compliance with ISO 14001 Environmental Management System requirements.

  • Monitor environmental compliance related to wastewater, stormwater, spill prevention and response, and environmental reporting. Organize and equip spill‑control and stormwater response teams; support spill drills and related documentation.
  • Prepare, update, and maintain environmental permits and regulatory documentation.
  • Evaluate and prepare documentation for licensed hazardous waste disposal vendors; oversee hazardous waste handling in alignment with regulatory requirements.

Risk Assessment and Hazard Evaluation

  • Conduct workplace risk assessments using established methodologies and hazard‑analysis tools.
  • Evaluate operations, materials, equipment, and work practices to identify and mitigate environmental and occupational hazards.
  • Conduct EHS audits and inspections; assist in implementing recommendations, tracking corrective actions, and verifying effectiveness.

Training, Communication, and Collaboration

  • Deliver EHS training programs including new‑hire orientations, refresher courses, and regulatory certifications.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with employees, supervisors, the Site Leadership Team (SLT), and Corporate EHS regarding incidents, safety expectations, compliance requirements, and environmental performance.
  • Support cross‑department communication of EHS concepts to reinforce understanding, accountability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate effectively with HR, Operations, Facilities, Corporate EHS, and other stakeholders while managing time, priorities, and documentation requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Physical Sciences, Business Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-6 years of experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) roles.

Professional EHS certifications (REM, CIH, ASP, CSP, CHMM) preferred.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and report safety incident data in accordance with corporate reporting requirements.
  • Ability to provide accurate and consistent EHS guidance and support to site management.
  • Experience with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or comparable environmental or quality management systems preferred.
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies, including Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing, preferred.

Position Pay Range: $90,200 - $115,000. Hiring range and position pay range may differ, commensurate with education level, qualifications, and experience.
