Job Description
- Oversee and manage staff deployed in a variety of settings within a healthcare facility - including ambulatory clinics and overnight medical respite areas.
- Effectively manage staff to ensure timely and thorough cleaning and disinfection practices;
- Provide training in areas including proper hand hygiene, PPE use, safe chemical handling and respective patient-centered interactions.
- Oversee proper handling, storage, and disposal of regulated medical waste, with a focus on sharps injury prevention and bloodborne pathogen precautions.
- Respond to urgent cleaning requests including spills of potential blood borne pathogens.
- Collaborate with Infection Prevention in the implementation of evidence-based practices to prevent health care-associated infections through regular meetings, routine environmental rounds and quality inspections.
- Continue to stay compliant and informed of appropriate cleaning and disinfection products to use in a health care setting in terms of their safety data profile, mechanism of use and contact time. Ensure proper storage, labeling and dilution per manufacturer’s instructions for use and facility protocols.
- Adhere to guidelines as mandated at a state and federal level including CDC, DPH, OSHA and the EPA.
- Participate as a member of the water management team to ensure water safety while continuing to train staff on any guidelines and recommendations.
- Experience in leading Environmental Services within a health care setting
- Management experience of distributed staff and 24/7 operations strongly preferred
- Experience managing staff in a union environment preferred
- Skills in problem solving, strategic thinking and adaptability.
- Knowledge and ability to follow mandated safety protocols
- BA/BS or relevant Technical School certification highly preferred
- 3+ years of supervisory experience
- Displays concern and initiative
- Problem-solving skills
- Observed and supported program policies
- Cooperates and maintains good rapport with staff, patients, vendors, and patients
- Ability to learn and adapt
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Able to lift up to 20 pounds regularly
- Able to climb and descend stairs, basement through roof
- Able to bend and stoop
- Able to sit and stand for long periods of time, dependent on required activity
- Ability to put on and use proper PPE in certain settings and adherence to safety procedures.
- The compensation increases based on years of experience and ranges from $60,000 - 96,000 annually.
