Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist Ellwood employees to achieve goal of Zero Environmental Incidents;
  • Keep EHS Software system current in accurate.
  • Facilitate Environmental programs and establish new policies and procedures;
  • Assist in the development of Ellwood's sustainability program;
  • Assist Ellwood facilities in maintaining compliance with permit requirements;
  • Primary responsibilities will center on technical support, being part of the core technical team, and performing regulatory compliance activities;
  • Assistance with multimedia permitting (air, water, waste) and permit compliance efforts, including on-site environmental compliance support for:
  • Permitting, sampling, and reporting efforts;
  • Classification, inventory, and handling of hazardous materials;
  • Auditing regulatory compliance and management systems at the plant and corporate levels and
  • Developing EHS management training materials.
  • Develop and Perform Environmental Training
  • Help maintain Hazardous Waste Program which involves identifying and classifying hazardous waste streams, developing hazardous waste stream profiles, coordinating sampling and analysis, audit vendors, arrange for proper disposal, storage, shipping, handling, manifesting, and recordkeeping and reporting;
  • Develop and/or revise Environmental programs;
  • Provide Environmental consultation to BU Management in their efforts to identify, prevent, and eliminate hazards to employees, contractors, equipment, and facilities;
  • Collect and evaluate information on identified Environmental issues and work with appropriate departments/personnel to propose/develop recommendations for improvement, including evaluation and design of engineering controls, and implementation of exposure reduction solutions;
  • Conduct and present regular environmental audits at Facilities to ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations;
  • Review new equipment or processes for environmental risk before purchase;
  • The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive;
  • Environmental sampling; NPDES, waste, soil etc.
  • Conduct air and natural gas testing
  • Travel regionally and nationally (up to 25%) abiding by company policies and
  • Meet attendance requirements.
  • Must be a US Citizen or have a valid green card

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Management or equivalent experience;
  • Demonstrated commitment to safe and environmentally friendly work practices;
  • Ability to effectively manage projects and work in a team setting while maintaining forward motion toward key results and deliverables;
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with government agencies, including local offices, state agencies and federal organizations such as the EPA;
  • Proven team player with ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at the highest level;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and
  • Strong mentoring, training and coaching abilities for colleagues.
