Job Summary
Troubleshooting equipment used in the perioperative environment to support safe, efficient surgical care. Ensures specialty equipment is available, functional, and ready for surgical staff regarding equipment use and operation.

Essential Functions
Oversee and coordinate the organization, transport, setup, and distribution of equipment in the perioperative environment.
Review the daily OR schedule and anticipate equipment needs for scheduled procedures, ensuring specialty equipment is available and operational in the correct room at the correct time.
Assist with the movement, positioning, docking, and retrieval of surgical equipment, including specialty and vendor‑supported equipment.
Perform pre‑use safety and functionality checks on equipment and report, remove, or escalate malfunctioning equipment as appropriate.
Provide basic troubleshooting and operational support to nursing and surgical staff for equipment used during procedures.
Coordinate equipment maintenance, repair, and return‑to‑service with Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Engineering, vendors, and other support departments as needed.
Maintain equipment storage areas in an organized, clean, and ready state to support efficient OR workflow.
Assist with room setup and turnover as related to equipment needs, ensuring timely availability for subsequent cases.
Ensure compliance with hospital policy, manufacturer recommendations, infection prevention standards, and regulatory requirements related to equipment handling and use.
Collaborate effectively with registered nurses, surgical technologists, anesthesia staff, sterile processing, supply chain, and Biomedical Engineering to support safe perioperative operations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of perioperative equipment, including the transport, setup, operation, and basic troubleshooting of equipment used in the operating room.
- Knowledge of safe equipment handling practices, including proper cleaning processes, storage, and readiness standards in accordance with hospital policy, manufacturer guidelines, and infection prevention requirements.
- Ability to identify malfunctioning equipment, remove it from service as appropriate, and coordinate repair or follow-up with Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Engineering, or vendors.
- Understanding of and commitment to safety standards, including OSHA regulations, safe patient care environment practices, and blood-borne pathogen precautions as applicable to the perioperative setting.
- Knowledge of and ability to use Windows-based applications such as database, spreadsheet, word processing, equipment tracking, and materials management software.
