Key Responsibilities include preparing and filing probate and administration petitions in Surrogate's Court, managing the collection and valuation of estate assets with accurate date-of-death assessments. You will draft important legal documents such as inventories, accountings, and consents, while effectively communicating with clients, financial institutions, and agencies on behalf of the legal team. Stay on top of deadlines, and maintain detailed administration calendars. Coordinate estate tax returns preparation with accountants and review estate bank statements, preparing accountings as needed. Support trust funding and management, as well as engage in post-mortem planning.
Preferred candidates will have a Bachelor's degree or a Paralegal Certificate, with over three years of practical experience in Trusts and Estates or Estate Administration. Proficiency in probate procedures, estate, and fiduciary tax returns is required, along with strong communication, organizational, and detail-oriented skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office and legal management software is expected.
