- Conduct client consultations to assess legal needs and develop appropriate strategies
- Draft and review legal documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, health care proxies, and probate filings
- Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure comprehensive and compassionate client service
- Represent clients in probate and guardianship proceedings if necessary
- Stay up to date on changes in estate and elder law regulations
- Maintain organized and accurate case files and meet all required deadlines
- Provide thoughtful and tailored legal advice with sensitivity to the unique needs of older adults, people with disabilities, and their families
- 3–7 years of experience preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines with attention to detail and professionalism
- A client-centered mindset and the ability to work with individuals with empathy and respect
- Should be a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA)
The Massachusetts Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (MassNAELA) is a non-profit voluntary association whose members consist of a dedicated group of elder law and special needs attorneys across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. MassNAELA was incorporated in 1992, to serve the legal profession and the public with the following mission: Educate, inspire, serve, advocate, and provide community to attorneys with practices in elder and special needs law.
