Job Description
We are looking for an Estimator to support commercial flooring projects by preparing accurate cost estimates and managing bids from initial review through submission. This role works closely with project managers, suppliers, and subcontractors to develop competitive proposals across a range of flooring and interior finish scopes. The position plays a key role in preconstruction, ensuring projects are priced accurately and set up for successful execution. This is a strong fit for someone who understands flooring systems, material takeoffs, and installation methods.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial flooring projects based on drawings, specifications, and finish schedules
- Perform quantity takeoffs for flooring materials including carpet, tile, LVT, wood, and related finishes
- Analyze labor, material, and production rates specific to flooring installation
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing to ensure competitive bids
- Review project plans and specifications to identify scope gaps, alternates, and value engineering opportunities
- Collaborate with project managers and field teams during preconstruction planning
- Develop and maintain pricing databases for flooring materials and installation costs
- Prepare bid proposals, budgets, and supporting documentation
- Communicate with suppliers and installers to clarify scope, lead times, and pricing
- Support project handoff to operations upon award
Requirements
3+ years of experience in estimating within flooring, interior finishes, or specialty construction trades
Experience with commercial flooring systems (carpet, tile, LVT, hardwood, or similar)
Strong ability to read finish schedules, construction drawings, and specifications
Knowledge of flooring installation methods, materials, and production rates
Experience performing detailed quantity takeoffs and bid analysis
Proficiency with estimating and takeoff tools (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Measure)
Strong organizational and communication skills
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred but not required
