Estimator
- Civil ConstructionThis company is a mid-sized company with an excellent reputation in the civil construction space. This firm, who has been around for 30+ years, has an extensive pipeline of work and is known for taking care of their people and doing beautiful work.Job DescriptionAnalyze project plans, specifications, and contract documents to develop comprehensive cost estimates. Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs for civil construction components (earthwork, grading, drainage, paving, utilities, structures). Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids for completeness and competitiveness. Develop conceptual, preliminary, and final estimates based on project phase. Identify risks, cost drivers, and value engineering opportunities. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to validate assumptions and constructability. Maintain and update cost databases, historical pricing, and unit cost benchmarks. - Civil ConstructionEducation: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred). Equivalent industry experience considered.Experience: 3-10+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction. Proven experience with projects such as: Roadway and highway construction, Site development and grading, Utility installation (water, sewer, stormwater), Bridges or structural concrete (preferred).Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Viewpoint, Sage Estimating, or similar). Strong understanding of civil drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports. Experience with quantity takeoff tools and spreadsheets.
