Job Description

Executive Director - West Michigan

DISHER is partnering with an established nonprofit organization to search for an experienced Executive Director to lead their West Michigan operations. This role provides the opportunity to serve as chief executive and strategic leader, advance organizational mission, and drive community transformation in a dynamic faith-based environment.

What you'll get to do:

  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to define and implement strategic initiatives that align with the organizational mission.
  • Lead the planning and execution of gatherings, events, and programs in West Michigan and beyond.
  • Capture and share best practices; represent MWM locally, nationally, and internationally through public speaking and engagement opportunities.
  • Build relationships with churches, businesses, government, and nonprofit partners to strengthen organizational visibility and reputation.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the board, committees, and volunteers to ensure alignment with mission and strategy.
  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies, cultivating relationships with donors, foundations, businesses, and churches.
  • Support and sustain prayer initiatives as a foundation for community transformation.
  • Oversee research and data collection to guide strategic priorities and measure impact.
  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring effective systems, policies, and practices are in place.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain highly qualified staff and volunteers who embody organizational mission and values.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the organization's board, committees, and volunteers to ensure alignment with mission and strategy.
  • Ensure the organization’s long-term financial health through sound budgeting, fiscal oversight, and responsible management of resources.
  • Prepare and present annual budgets and financial reports to the Board of Directors.
  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies, cultivating relationships with donors, foundations, businesses, and churches to secure sustainable support.
  • Ensure legal and ethical integrity by signing all official documents, agreements, and commitments on behalf of the organization.

What will make you successful:

  • Bachelor's degree required (Advanced degree in leadership, theology, nonprofit management, business, or related field a plus)
  • Minimum 8-10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in nonprofit, ministry, or community-focused organizations.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, program development, and organizational leadership.
  • Proven track record in fundraising, donor cultivation, and resource development.
  • Experience building and managing partnerships across church, business, nonprofit, and civic sectors.
  • Strong strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable goals.
  • Mature and growing Christian faith, with demonstrated commitment to prayer and spiritual leadership.
  • Exceptional communication and public speaking skills; comfortable engaging local, national, and international audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate unity across diverse groups and perspectives.
