Job Description

Summary

The New Product and Business Approval Team sits within Enterprise Risk and is responsible for overseeing and managing the end-to-end process of new product and business approvals within the organization. This role ensures that new products and business lines conform to the firm's strategic objectives, risk appetite, and risk management standards.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the enterprise NPA framework in accordance with internal policy and regulatory expectations.

  • Collaborate closely with Product Sponsors, Risk Management, and other corporate functions to facilitate thorough evaluation and approval of new business proposals and product expansions.

  • Manage the assessment, risk analysis, and approval workflow for new products and business initiatives, ensuring comprehensive review of associated risks including market, credit, liquidity, and non-financial risks.

  • Oversee due diligence covering strategic rationale, regulatory requirements, operational readiness, financial impacts, and all risk types.

  • Coordinate and challenge assessments across control functions; oversee tracking of all conditions and post-implementation reviews.

  • Coordinate the New Product Committee meetings, ensuring inclusion of key stakeholders across three lines of defense.

  • Ensure timely and accurate communication of approval decisions and processes to Product Sponsors, Head Office, and relevant teams.

  • Support continuous improvement of documentation, processes, and systems relating to new product and business approval.

  • Coordinate with senior management and control functions to ensure risk appetite adherence throughout the new product lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • 10-15+ years of risk or new-product governance experience.

  • Proven experience of team leadership, career development of others and developing individuals in the program and change management space

  • Demonstrable experience delivering major cross functional initiatives in complex financial institutions, preferably within risk management

  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills including experience at performing this across multiple functions, committees and areas

  • Deep understanding of finance, risk, operations, and data processes as well as the technologies enabling them

  • Superior communication skills: both written and oral with technical and non-technical staff

  • Solid knowledge and expertise in the use of project management methodologies and tools

The expected base salary ranges from $225,000 - $250,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, including Medical, Dental and 401K plans, successful candidates are also eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
