The Position

The Organon Global Procurement & Supplier Management (GPSM) Organization partners with the business to develop and execute direct and indirect sourcing strategies, enabled by agile business processes and strong supplier performance management, to drive improved business outcomes. The Executive Director, IT and Corporate Services Procurement & Supplier Management, reporting to the Associate Vice President, Indirect Procurement & Supplier Management, will be responsible and accountable for procurement activities of $550M USD for IT Services, Software, Hardware, Telecom, Contingent Labor, Consulting, Legal Services, Financial Services, BPO, Employee Benefits, Mobility, Payroll, Rewards and Recognition and other HR and Professional Services.  This position must work in close collaboration with regional and global business stakeholders and support functions to ensure alignment with Global Procurement strategies.  The category leads and specialists for Business Technology and Corporate Services (including HR and Professional Services) will report to this role. 

Responsibilities

  • Category Management: Participates and lead global team to develop and implement strategic sourcing plans as well as ensure alignment on key initiatives and priorities. 

  • Indirect Procurement Leadership: As a member of the Indirect Procurement & Supplier Management Leadership Team, will co-develop organizational strategies, targets, metrics to achieve the team’s objectives.

  • Sourcing Management: Use Sourcing Management as a structured process, creating and leading cross-functional teams or overseeing teams execution of sourcing initiatives.

  • Strategy Creation and Management: Work with cross-functional teams to create breakthrough strategies which both deliver quick wins and genuine innovative breakthroughs.

  • Sourcing and Contracting: Oversee the delivery of sourcing initiatives including RFI, RFP, negotiations, and contracting by teams and/or BPO to put in place the right strategies and suppliers.

  • Supplier Development and Performance Management: Build relationships and manage key supplier performance against business requirements using proven processes to drive the realization of the full value of the key relationships.

  • Continuous Improvement: Ensure that supplier relationships are set up for future continuous improvement and to lead review processes which ensure delivery of ongoing improvement.

  • Stakeholder Management and Business Sponsorship: Work in a way that positively engages the support of stakeholders using problem-solving and proactive communication skills.

  • Business Requirements: Build a keen insight and understanding of business requirements on a 1-3-5-year horizon.

  • Results and Performance: The candidate will be a high-quality achiever who gets the right things done in the right way.

  • Market Knowledge, Insight, and Subject Matter Expertise: Use thorough market knowledge and data analysis to gain critical insights that drive the selection of sourcing strategies and continuous improvement activities. Actively participate in relevant industry benchmarking and events. Provide guidance, counsel, and leadership to the team and wider organization in matters related to the categories under management.

  • Project and Change Management: High-quality project and program management skills and a proven ability to manage change both internal and external through to successful completion.

  • Proactive Cost Management: Achieve cost control, cost reduction, and cost containment targets, and add value to the area of expenditure through a strong Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) orientation and process management.

  • Performance: Deliver ongoing savings as required, as well as meeting the stakeholder business requirements.

  • Environment Social & Governance (ESG): Actively participate in achieving the organization's ESG goals including but not limited to Supplier Diversity and Sustainability.

  • Talent Development: Actively contribute to the development of team members and peers within the team, helping them build their knowledge in the categories and markets under management.  Participate in leadership discussions and develop, manage, develop and support plans for those on your team. 

Required Education, Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • MBA or advanced degree and/or relevant certifications desirable.

  • Ten or more years in Strategic Procurement or related role, with at least five years in a leadership position.

  • Strategic Vision: Able to understand a global long-term vision based on a thorough understanding of industry trends and opportunities.

  • Business Acumen: Ability to engage with business leaders around business strategy, goals, and business outcomes, and apply sound judgment and decision-making.

  • Influencing: Advanced ability to partner, collaborate and impact decisions at all levels within and outside the organization.

  • Innovation: Demonstrated ability to think out of the box and find innovative solutions whilst working in an ambiguous, transformational business environment.

  • Strong communications and influencing skills at senior levels.

  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a dynamic environment.

  • Strong Market Knowledge.

  • English language fluency.

  • Strong negotiation skills.

  • Project Management skills.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Analytical: Strong analytical skills, ability to analyze large complex data sets to derive relevant intelligence in developing sourcing strategies or supporting negotiations.

  • Subject matter expertise in IT and Corporate Services categories.

  • Creative, self-starter.

  • Bias for action.
