About the Eye Care Team Member Positions

Bennett EyeCare Midwest, a locally owned optometric private practice with 6 locations, is hiring!  Positions available include Optometric Technician/Medical Assistant, Front Desk Receptionist and Optician.  

An Optometric Technician/Medical Assistant is responsible for providing support to ensure efficient operation of the optometric office. Technicians assist doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication.

A Front Desk Receptionist answers the phone, schedules appointments, files insurance, collects payments, and performs other administrative tasks.  Good communication skills and a friendly disposition is a must!

An optician helps patients purchase eyewear so they can see their world with clarity, comfort and style.  An optician assists the patient with frame styling, offers recommendations on lens options, and takes measurements to ensure the eyeglass prescription performs perfectly.  On the job training is available!

We are looking for candidates who take pride in completing their job duties with accuracy, with efficiency, and with a friendly, positive disposition.  Happy patients are the reason we have a busy practice!

Technician/Medical Assistant Responsibilities

  • Interview patients and document basic medical history
  • Perform preliminary vision testing up to and including refraction
  • Perform ancillary testing, such as fundus photography, corneal thickness measurements, OCT testing and visual field testing
  • Assist during medical examinations
  • Coordinate the ordering of diagnostic contact lenses
  • Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms and medical instruments

Front Desk Receptionist Responsibilities

  • Answers incoming phone calls
  • Organizes and Schedules appointments
  • Patient Check-in and Check-out
  • Collect co-pays or payments for eyewear and medical treatments
  • Verify Insurance benefits / prepare charts for upcoming appointments
  • Basic phone triage
  • Helps patients and guests feel comfortable and welcome in our lobby and waiting areas

Optician Responsibilities

  • Takes & records measurements, adjusts eyewear correctly.  Ensures finished eyewear meets our standards & customer requirements
  • Assists patients with frame selection
  • Greets all customers with a warm welcome right away.  Provides timely, skilled service to customers
  • Updates and files optical and/or vision insurance claims.
  • Demonstrates superior product knowledge; takes the initiative to accurately describe the features & benefits of various lenses & frames
  • Verifies prescription accuracy prior to dispensing
  • Shows ability to work with others in a busy environment, staying positive and friendly
