JOB DESCRIPTION
DEPARTMENT:Food & Beverage / Culinary
REPORTS TO: Director of Food & Beverage / F&B Manager
STATUS:Non-Exempt
JOB SUMMARY
The Food & Beverage Supervisor is responsible for supervising daily food and beverage operations during assigned shifts to ensure service excellence, operational efficiency, and compliance with brand-specific standards (Hilton, Marriott, Starbucks licensed standards where applicable, or independent brand standards). This role provides direct oversight of frontline team members and supports management in maintaining high service, cleanliness, safety, and guest satisfaction levels across all food and beverage outlets. This is a seasonal position starting mid May and ending mid September.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Education & Experience:
Minimum of 1–3 years of food and beverage experience in a hotel, restaurant, or high-volume service environment
Prior supervisory or lead experience preferred
Knowledge of Hilton and/or Marriott food and beverage service standards preferred
Experience working in branded or licensed concepts (e.g., Starbucks) preferred, if applicable
Familiarity with POS systems, basic scheduling, and operational reporting
Physical requirements:
Flexible hours required, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Medium work – exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a fast-paced environment
General Requirements
Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to uniform and grooming standards according to brand-specific requirements
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with guests, employees, and management
Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities during peak service periods
Maintain confidentiality of company, guest, and employee information
Attend all required hotel meetings, departmental briefings, and brand-mandated training sessions
Comply with all company policies, Hilton/Marriott brand standards, Starbucks licensing requirements (if applicable), and applicable local/state/federal regulations
Perform other duties as requested by management
DUTIES & FUNCTIONS
Fundamental Requirements:
Supervise food and beverage team members during assigned shifts to ensure service standards are met
Provide direction, coaching, and real-time feedback to servers, bartenders, baristas, and support staff
Ensure compliance with brand-specific service, cleanliness, and operational standards across all outlet
Maintain daily communication with Culinary, Banquets, Front Desk, and Food & Beverage Management
Assist with opening and closing procedures for food and beverage outlets
Monitor service flow, table turns, beverage service, and guest experience during meal periods Ensure proper execution of menus, recipes, portion controls, and presentation standards
Support labor management by assisting with break compliance, shift coverage, and staffing adjustments
Assist with inventory monitoring, restocking, and proper product storage
Support banquet and event service as needed, ensuring coordination with Conference Services and Culinary teams
Support daily operations of Starbucks-licensed or other branded outlets in accordance with licensing and brand standards
Ensure beverage quality, cleanliness, merchandising, and customer experience expectations are met
Assist with partner training, certification, and compliance requirements
Promote a service culture aligned with Hilton and Marriott service values and brand guest experience expectations
Address guest concerns and service recovery situations promptly and professionally
Support guest satisfaction scores, internal audits, and brand quality assurance inspections
Safety & Compliance:
Enforce food safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service policies
Ensure compliance with health department regulations, OSHA requirements, and brand safety standards
Identify and report safety hazards or operational concerns immediately
Support emergency response procedures and incident reporting
Complete shift reports, checklists, and required documentation accurately and timely
Assist with training, cross-training, and performance feedback for team members
Participate in special projects and additional duties as assigned by Food & Beverage Management
Work Schedule & Availability
Hospitality is a 24-hour operation. Associates may be required to work varying schedules, including early mornings, evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays, based on operational needs and hotel occupancy levels. Schedules, staffing levels, and assigned duties may fluctuate to meet business demands, special events, and guest service requirements.
In accordance with New Jersey State Legislature (New Jersey Legislature Bill S2310 Sca (1R)) which requires private employers with ten (10) or more employees to include a range of pay for all advertised jobs, promotion, or transfer opportunities. This position pays $18 - $20/hr dependent on experience.
