Job Description
The Fabrication and Woodworking Instructor serves as the coordinator of industrial arts, fabrication, and woodworking projects related to the Community as Lab programs. Acts as a liaison with homelife and the school to include residents in hands-on, project-based learning experiences. Coordinates curriculum-aligned industrial arts projects, workshop operations, asset management, equipment maintenance, and inventory activities. Performs office and field work related to instruction, property accountability, and control while ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment for youth.
Requirements
High school diploma or GED equivalency is required.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in woodworking, fabrication, or woodshop management is required.
Experience in industrial or fine arts is preferred, including but not limited to: metal forming, construction, graphic arts, ceramics, textiles, or related disciplines.
Must have experience teaching, mentoring, or facilitating projects with youth.
Must have experience in the development, management, and execution of industrial arts or fabrication projects.
Must have experience with or willingness to learn new technologies such as CNC, CAD/design software, graphic design, and 3D printing.
Strong knowledge of shop safety standards and best practices is required.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and related software is required.
Proficiency in general office equipment operation is required.
Must possess exceptional time management, organization, and attention-to-detail skills.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Physical requirements include bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand/eye coordination, pushing/pulling, and prolonged sitting or standing.
Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license.
Must be available for travel as needed.
