Job Description

At Terabase Energy, we believe that digitalization and automation will drive the next wave of innovation and cost reduction in large scale solar. To fully unlock the potential of this opportunity, Terabase is developing an interconnected software and construction automation platform. We work alongside project developers, owners, and engineering & construction firms to support the design, optimization, and construction of huge solar projects around the world. Our team is a blend of solar-industry veterans and newbies, thought-leaders, dreamers, software, electrical and mechanical engineers, coders, product managers, project managers, and sales and marketing professionals. We are based in Northern California, with several other offices in the United States and around the world.

About the Role

Terabase Energy is building utility-scale solar at the speed the energy transition demands. To do that, our facilities and security operations need someone who treats them like their own business — not a checklist.

The Facilities & Security Operations Lead owns facilities, physical security, and on-site safety implementation across both the Davis and Woodland sites. You are stationed at Davis and move between the two sites as the work requires. You don’t wait for a building issue to become a crisis. You see what needs to happen, you find the right vendor, and you make sure the work gets done — on schedule, on budget, and to a standard you would put your name on.

You report to the Safety Manager and operate with significant autonomy. You make decisions, keep leadership informed, and escalate when escalation is warranted — not before, not after. This is a role for someone who is done waiting for permission to do good work.

What You’ll Own

Facilities Operations — Davis and Woodland

The core of this role is vendor management. You don’t turn the wrenches — you make sure the right people do, on the right schedule, at the right price. If it belongs to the facility, it’s yours to manage.

  • Own vendor management across both sites — sourcing, contracting, scheduling, performance, and the relationships that keep good vendors showing up.
  • If it belongs to the facility, it falls under your purview. Anything that needs to be purchased, scheduled, repaired, or maintained — you own the coordination from request to completion.
  • Run the preventive maintenance program across both sites. Make sure work gets scheduled, completed, and documented.
  • Own day-to-day building operations, space planning, and the overall experience of working in the buildings.
  • Coordinate purchases, quotes, and vendor selection in line with company purchasing practices.
  • Manage snack and supply ordering for both sites — keep the kitchens and common areas stocked and dialed in.
  • Support planning and execution of local company events — logistics, vendor coordination, and on-site setup.

Physical Security — Davis and Woodland

  • Full ownership of the physical security program across both sites — access control, surveillance, alarm systems, and visitor management.
  • Badging and access card administration — issue, modify, deactivate, and audit access credentials for both sites.
  • Manage building access at both sites, including door hardware, controllers, and access policies.
  • Camera system administration — ensure managers and other authorized personnel who require visual access have it provisioned, maintained, and audited across the camera network.
  • Own the security vendor relationship, including the contracted security company. You manage the contract, the performance, and the day-to-day operational interface.
  • Off-hours response for security and vendor calls at either site. You are the point of contact when something happens after the buildings go quiet.
  • Partner with the Safety Manager on emergency response coordination.

On-Site Safety Implementation — Davis and Woodland

The Safety Manager owns the safety programs. You own how those programs show up physically inside the buildings — the equipment is there, it works, and it’s ready when someone needs it.

  • Own on-site implementation and maintenance of the safety program at both Davis and Woodland under the direction of the Safety Manager.
  • Inspect, maintain, and document stationary, non-operational safety equipment — eye wash stations, safety showers, fire extinguishers, AEDs, first aid stations, exit signs, emergency lighting, and similar fixed safety infrastructure.
  • Make sure inspections happen on schedule, deficiencies are corrected, and records are kept clean and audit-ready.
  • Coordinate with vendors for testing, certification, and replacement of safety equipment as required.
  • Conduct and support safety audits at both sites as requested by the Safety Manager.
  • Be a visible safety presence on-site — the kind of person employees and vendors recognize as someone who actually cares whether the program works.

Requirements

Who You Are

You take ownership without being asked. You make decisions and stand behind them. You communicate up clearly and concisely — leadership knows what’s happening because you tell them, not because they had to chase it down. You escalate the right things at the right time, and you handle the rest yourself.

You are comfortable being the only person in your lane. You are not waiting for a team to back you up. You are the team.

You have strong opinions about vendors. You know the difference between a vendor who shows up and a vendor who solves problems, and you build your network around the latter.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 5 years of facilities management experience with a strong vendor management focus.
  • Minimum 2 years of physical security experience, including access control and camera system administration.
  • Hands-on experience with badging systems, building access control, and video surveillance platforms.
  • Solid working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously and own outcomes without direct supervision.
  • Strong vendor management skills — sourcing, negotiation, performance management, and accountability.
  • Comfortable supporting a range of facility-related responsibilities, from infrastructure to common-area supplies to event logistics.
  • Willingness to be on-site at either Davis or Woodland as operations require, and to respond to off-hours security and vendor calls at either site.

Preferred (Not Required)

  • OSHA 30 or higher certification.
  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or equivalent security credential.
  • PMP or other project management certification.
  • Experience in manufacturing, R&D, or industrial facility environments.
