The City of Steamboat Springs is hiring a Facilities Maintenance Worker to join their team!

Pay Range: $25.37 - $35.52

GENERAL PURPOSE  

Performs a variety of skilled, semi‑skilled, and technical tasks and operates a variety of equipment and tools in the maintenance and custodial operations of buildings, grounds and city owned property.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

This position works under the direct supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor and under the general supervision of Senior Maintenance Workers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Serves as an ambassador of the City of Steamboat Springs and upholds City values of Service, Teamwork, Integrity, Well-being, Respect and Compassion, while always espousing safety.

Assists with and or performs annual and routine inspections and preventative maintenance to include but not limited to elevators, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, thermostats, AED’s, emergency lighting, interior and exterior lighting, and overall standard building conditions.

Inspects and ensures the maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor.

Operates medium-sized equipment to light construction/power equipment, such as pick-up trucks, plows, snow blowers, steam cleaners, buffers, power washers, paint sprayers, plumbing augers, various power tools, etc.

Performs skilled and semi‑skilled interior building maintenance such as painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC and other unskilled and semi‑skilled trades work and assists with all facility remodels.

Maintain current skills and knowledge in the proper and safe techniques of building and maintenance functions and complies with all Federal, State, and Local codes.

Clear snow and ice from facility sidewalks and walkways as needed.

Replace lighting/lamps as scheduled throughout all City buildings.

Promptly responds to lock and unlock facilities when requested.

Assist with the collection and disposal of refuse & recycling on Lincoln Avenue, some City Facilities, and bus shelters when needed. Pick-up litter from City premises when required.

May be required to purchase small tools, building materials and other supplies necessary to perform facilities maintenance and custodial duties. Online purchases / recommendations may also be required.

Provide all credit card receipts with AP coding to office staff on a weekly basis.

Assists in setting up and taking down equipment for various Facility and Public programs and prepares facilities for special events and public use.

Utilize facility work order program to record and track work order requests and costs incurred in a timely manner.

Performs all duties in compliance with appropriate safety and security standards.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Desired Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

High School Graduate or GED equivalent. Two years of construction, maintenance, or repair experience Any equivalent combination of education and experience

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Working knowledge and operation of construction equipment, tools, materials, and supplies used in building maintenance, custodial duties and to perform minor repairs.Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely using applicable safety precautions.Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, coworkers, vendors, subcontractors, and the public. Computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn Outlook, Workday, Zen Desk, and other relevant systems.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Have and maintain a valid Colorado State’s Driver’s License.  A criminal background check will be required.

Tools and Equipment Used

Motorized vehicles and equipment, including pick-up truck, snowplow, snow blowers, common hand and power tools as required to perform all duties required of this position, including but not limited to saws, pumps, wrenches, boilers, generator, HVAC testing equipment, sanders, table saws.

Computer equipment, copiers, mobile phone and all other electronic equipment as needed.

Janitorial equipment including floor buffers, steam cleaners, carpet cleaners, washers, vacuums, mops, brooms, and dusting equipment.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift / move more than 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to extreme temperatures, loud noises and wet and/or humid conditions and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.

When assigned to snow plowing and/or removal of snow, employee may be required to work weekends and/or holidays. Other work assigned may also require being on-call and working weekends, holidays, and nights.

Pay Range:

$25.37 - $35.52

Offers will be negotiated based on each candidate's qualifications.Merit:This role is eligible for merit within our pay-for-performance philosophy via our annual performance review process.  Hires after September 1st will take the next year's compensation data into account but would not be eligible for merit until the following year.Benefits:Full-time roles are eligible for our comprehensive benefits program which includes medical, dental, and vision coverage options as well as other program offerings such as our Employee Assistance Program and more. You may also contribute to our 401(a) plan that includes a company match.  Seasonal roles are not eligible for medical, dental, and vision coverage, but have benefits such as Paid Sick Leave, Ski and Skate Pass, Employee Assistance Program, etc.
