Job Description
OCTA is seeking a skilled Electrician to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, machinery, and equipment across agency facilities. This role supports both routine and high-voltage (277-480 VAC and up to 1000 VDC) work while ensuring compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and operational requirements.
The salary for this position is:
$33.18- Starting rate per hour
$35.32- After completion of six (6) months
$46.02- Top rate after thirty six (36) months
The position will remain open until a candidate is selected.
What You'll Do
Install, maintain, test, and repair electrical devices and distribution systems, including lighting, power circuits, motors, controls, life safety systems, relays, breakers, and irrigation controls
Inspect and repair backup generators, UPS systems, and auxiliary equipment
Cut, bend, and install conduit and pull conductors
Read and interpret drawings, schematics, ladder diagrams, and blueprints
Guide and train Facilities Technicians
Perform maintenance on burner assemblies and related equipment
Safely use ladders, aerial lifts, staging, light towers, and PPE
Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair fueling systems, electrical systems up to 480V, plumbing, and facility equipment
Oversee contractor work for quality and compliance
Maintain logs, reports, permits, certifications, and regulatory documentation
Support special projects including welding, painting, construction, and facility upgrades
Evaluate and repair facility safety and testing systems
What We're Looking For
High school diploma or GED
Completion of an accredited electrical training program
Three years of electrical experience, including installation and repair aligned with NEC and state electrical safety standards
Familiarity with NFPA 70, NEC, NFPA 70E, arc flash safety, HAZMAT procedures, and Cal/OSHA electrical safety practices
Ability to diagnose industrial electrical issues, read technical documentation, and work safely with high-voltage systems
Strong problem-solving, communication, and time-management skills
Ability to climb ladders, work at heights above 30 feet, operate lifts, and work in confined spaces
Experience with battery-electric vehicle chargers is a plus
Valid California Driver License with a safe record
