Position Summary

Concordia University invites applications for a full-time, 12-month faculty position in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program at Concordia University. This position is focused on teaching neuromuscular content, as well as on peer-reviewed scholarship and mentoring physical therapy students. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience as a practicing PT, a proven track record of research/publication; previous exposure to inter-professional collaboration and successful teaching experience within higher education.

This position reports to the DPT Program Director in the School of Health Professions at the Ann Arbor, MI campus. The position begins July 1, 2026. Faculty must live in proximity to the Ann Arbor, Michigan campus to fulfill all position expectations. All Concordia faculty are active members of Christian congregations; membership in a Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) congregation is preferred.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Concordia University full-time faculty fulfill the university's mission to help students develop in mind, body, and spirit for service to Christ in the Church and the world via teaching, scholarship and service. The successful candidate will teach courses in neuromuscular physical therapy in addition to other content areas commensurate with their qualifications and experience. Concordia University faculty are active scholars in their academic disciplines and participate in the life of the university via curriculum development, academic program assessment, and other activities that support student recruitment, retention and engagement. All Concordia faculty are expected to demonstrate excellence in college-level teaching.

Specific Position Responsibilities:

  • Teach 24 academic credits per year as assigned by program director
  • Participate actively in curriculum development, assessment and interprofessional education
  • Hold 10 office hours each week when classes are in session
  • Perform research, scholarship or creative activities according to university and CAPTE standards
  • Collaborate with program faculty to design, assess and modify curriculum
  • Assist in ensuring program compliance with CAPTE accreditation requirements
  • Serve actively on committees within the department, school and/or university
  • Assist in student recruitment, advising and mentoring
  • Attend university opening service, faculty summit and commencement exercises
  • Fulfill all expectations for ranked faculty as outlined in the Faculty Handbook
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Dedication to the academic priorities of Concordia University and the CU mission required
  • Previous experience with CAPTE accreditation procedures is preferred
  • Prior successful teaching experience in higher education is preferred with knowledge of both a blended content delivery method as well as online teaching methodologies.
  • Supportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)

Education & Experience

  • Hold a valid unrestricted physical therapy license to practice in the state of Michigan or be eligible for Michigan licensure.
  • Hold a clinical doctorate in Physical Therapy; an earned academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, etc.) or progress towards completion of such a degree is preferred
  • Able to contribute meaningfully to provide unique learning opportunities to a diverse student body through an innovative blended hybrid curriculum.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with faculty in various healthcare disciplines within the School of Health Professions and the university
