Job DetailsResponsibilities:As a Family Law Attorney, your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
  • Representing clients in court or before government agencies, presenting evidence to defend clients or prosecute defendants in criminal or civil litigation.
  • Selecting jurors, arguing motions, meeting with judges, and questioning witnesses during the course of a trial.
  • Studying Constitution, statutes, decisions, regulations, and ordinances of quasi-judicial bodies to determine ramifications for cases.
  • Analyzing the probable outcomes of cases, using knowledge of legal precedents.
  • Negotiating settlements of civil disputes.
  • Conducting legal research and gathering evidence.
  • Ensuring the interest of the client is represented properly.
  • Advising clients concerning business transactions, claim liability, advisability of prosecuting or defending lawsuits, or legal rights and obligations.
  • Interpreting laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses.
  • Preparing and drafting legal documents, such as wills, deeds, patent applications, mortgages, leases, and contracts.
  • Dealing with complex matters such as divorce, child custody, alimony, and parental allocations.
Qualifications:To be considered for this role, applicants must have:
  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active member of the Illinois State Bar.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in family law.
  • Proven background in marital law, divorce, dissolutions, child custody, parental allocations, alimony, and maintenance.
  • Proven litigation skills and experience in the courtroom.
  • Strong negotiation and mediation skills.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and cases simultaneously.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software to prepare and manage case documentation and correspondence.
