Job Description

We're looking for an organized, detail-oriented, and experienced family paralegal to play an important role on our legal team. The Maine Divorce Group is a dynamic and client-focused law firm dedicated to delivering exceptional legal services in family law matters. Compensation:

$25 - $35 hourly commensurate with experience

Responsibilities:

Draft subpoenas and coordinate with process servers
Assist lawyers in preparing legal documentation, pleadings, and correspondence including correspondence such as interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits
Gather information about legal issues from the client in interviews

Help lawyers prepare for trial by preparing and organizing exhibits, assisting with client meetings, filing motions, conducting research on legal articles, and organizing and coordinating witnesses.
Handle client communications with professionalism and empathy, including answering calls and de-escalating situations as needed.
Support the development and presentation of legal strategies in family law cases, leveraging technology for effective case management.

Qualifications:

3 years of experience in legal services under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting
Must have strong interpersonal skills and talent for writing and grammar
Candidates should possess high-level organizational skills, and time-management skills
Completion of a nationally-accredited paralegal program strongly preferred
Must have completed an ABA-approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies, Bachelor’s degree desired

Mac operating systems proficiency, Google Suite, MyCase, Excel, and other software tools to maintain accurate and accessible case records.
