Manager of Community Access Programs

About the RoleAre you an operations leader who thrives on keeping multiple programs running smoothly - and making sure patients can get the care they need, when they need it? Thundermist Health Center is looking for a Manager of Community Access Programs to oversee the day-to-day operations of Convenient Care, Telephone Triage, and school-based health programs. You'll coordinate staffing, manage workflows, monitor access performance, and serve as the operational backbone for some of Thundermist's most patient-facing programs. Manage daily urgent care and walk-in access operations across assigned sites, ensuring consistent, high-quality, patient-centered care deliveryCoordinate staffing, scheduling, clinical workflows, and performance expectations for urgent care programs, including evenings, weekends, and holidaysSupport nursing and MA workforce management including onboarding, schedule coordination, payroll review, PTO/FMLA tracking, coaching, and performance follow-upServe as the operational point of contact during assigned weekend, evening, and holiday coverageTrack access metrics including wait times, visit volume, patient flow, and patient experience data; recommend improvements based on trendsSupport daily operations of the remote Telephone Triage program including staffing coordination, workflow management, and service level monitoring

School-Based Health Programs

Manage daily operations for school-based health programs, supporting consistent service delivery, staffing coverage, documentation, and complianceMaintain effective working relationships with school partners to support program operations and timely issue resolutionOversee scheduling, clinical protocol implementation, documentation standards, and quality measure tracking for school-based health servicesIdentify operational barriers and service gaps and elevate recommendations for improvement to the Director

Cross-Site Coordination & Community Partnerships

Coordinate with site Executive Directors, Medical Directors, and operational leaders on workflow issues, staffing needs, and barriers affecting patient accessWork with front desk teams to ensure registration processes support timely, seamless patient access; resolve scheduling gaps, insurance verification delays, and intake inefficienciesMaintain day-to-day relationships with community partners, schools, social service agencies, and public health entitiesProvide direct supervision and support to assigned staff, reinforcing expectations for service quality, teamwork, and accountabilitySupport hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance feedback, and professional development for staff within assigned programs

What We're Looking ForYou're an adaptable operations leader who connects daily workflows to the bigger picture - patient access, experience, and community health. You're comfortable managing across multiple sites and non-standard hours, and you bring strong judgment, clear communication, and a collaborative leadership style to everything you do.

Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration with a healthcare focus, or a closely related field - or equivalent experienceMinimum 2 years of supervisory or operational leadership experience in a healthcare settingDemonstrated ability to coordinate staff, workflows, and daily operations across multiple programs or sitesAbility to use operational data to monitor performance, identify workflow issues, and support access improvement effortsStrong communication and relationship-building skills across clinical, administrative, school, and community settingsCommitment to health equity and culturally responsive care for underserved populations

Preferred:

Prior experience in an FQHC or community health center environmentExperience supporting urgent care, community health, or school-based health programsCurrent Rhode Island RN licensure or equivalent clinical credentialBilingual or multilingual skills aligned with the communities servedFamiliarity with EHR systems (eClinicalWorks, Epic, or NextGen)

Schedule & LocationsThis is a full-time (40 hours/week), benefit-eligible position operating across Thundermist sites where Convenient Care, Telephone Triage, and school-based health programs are delivered. Schedule includes regular weekday clinic hours with assigned coverage during evenings, weekends, and holidays as operational point of contact for Convenient Care and extended access programs.
